It will soon be Haskap harvest time! Did you know you can grow your own Haskap - also known as Honeyberries easily? They are incredibly hardy (to -45C) and su...per easy to grow! They are quite specific to which one pollinates which - come ask us - we know the tips for successful fruit production. The delicious purple berries are ready to harvest by late June - they are the first berry ready in the Prairies! They taste like a wild blueberry x with a huckleberry and are packed full of antioxidants. Great to eat fresh out of hand, or wonderful in jams, jellies, muffins and smoothies! We have starter shrubs available in 1 or 2 gallon containers starting at 4/$45. 2 gal are 3/$75.

DHF Feature Plant of the Day: Haskap (Lonicera Caerulea). We have 3 called Aurora and 3 called Tundra. The shrubs are worth adding to your landscape project fo...r their visual appearance alone. The leaves are lush and green and depending on the variety, the plant can grow anywhere from 4 feet to six feet. It will accept pruning to keep its shape. The real bonus, however, are the berries. Tasting somewhere between blueberry and raspberry, they resemble odd oval blueberries that vary in size. The varieties we chose are suited to our harsh winter, and they require a pollinator to produce fruit which is why we have two different kinds. #urbanfarming #permaculture See more
