Hello all. Thanks for tuning in again today. Remember at the beginning of the year when it was like 7 degrees and you were out wearing shorts and tanning. Boy, is that over. In the interest of keeping everyone in a positive mindset, I thought I would not so subtly remind you that coffee is a thing. And it's a thing we do really well. Since, according to my phone's weather app, it's supposed to slowly get colder as the day goes by, this is almost a necessary lunch. Of course, it's Friday. And we can't ignore that. Good morning all. We had worked out a really good post based on all the snow we had, and how it was turning into winter. Lo and behold, today is 7 degrees, no snow anywhere. Notta. Seriously it's a letdown. Look at how good I look in that hat! So, enjoy this winter themed post where apparently my eyes are crossed??? Where was I? Right right. This is a restaurant. ... So, things are back to where they started in March, and so we are back to take out orders and waving through the front window. As I'm sure you've run into already, things are restricted. We are only allowing one person in the restaurant at a time (even if you live together, or you somehow super glued yourself to your neighbour, or your cute little dog named Henry gets lonely without you). Delivery isn't currently available, but we are looking into trying to work that out. Good morning crew. What a beautiful morning it is. There was even a cat asleep on my vehicle this morning. I feel like that has to be a good sign. Yes hello, good morning. Sorry about yesterday. Things got a little loose there. I mean, it happens. Agree to disagree. Anyway, back to business. Cabbage rolls. Y'all have been fools for these lately. We have been selling out almost every day. I mean, I can't blame you. Cold weather is cabbage roll weather. No more denial... Now, in true Hastings fashion, here are some completely made up facts about cabbage rolls (yes, they are made up. Don't message me upset about it. We're... trying to have fun, ya bum): 1) cabbage rolls are calorie negative. So when you eat a cabbage roll, you're actually helping to burn more calories than you would without them. 2) cabbage rolls were originally invented in 1776 in response to the Declaration of Independence. The people of Poland needed something to eat while they watched the madness on tv (nothing's changed, eh?). 3) cabbage rolls have to be cooked in batches of 15, otherwise they get lonely and don't cook properly 4) during the disco years, Cabbage rolls were fed to the Bee Gees to keep their voices in proper singing condition. To this day Madonna, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey and Weird Al Yankovic still swear by this trick. So, there you have it. The magic of Cabbage rolls. Good morning all. I might be cheating a little bit here, by pulling in a ringer for the post today. That's Lemmy, she's a handful. But, what this cute ball of nerves is also hinting at, is just how good our Vegan Bigos is. Look, she's staring right at it. Lemmy's cuteness aside, we have a boatload of specials for the day today:... 1) Pickle Soup 2) Chicken Breast Sandwich 3) Pork Schniztel (on a Kaiser or plate) 4) Vegan Bigos (duh) 5) Meat Bigos 6) Conspiracy Theories of how Don Henley is stalking me I know this week was especially hard (including watching the Habs lose to the Flyers last night. Ugh), so why not treat yourself to some food happiness? I promise it's better than that lifesized statue of Shaq that your friend made at pottery class and you weirdly thought to yourself that you NEEDED it. Hey crew. Happy Friday. Do you see what we have going on here??? Perfection. That's right. The best pierogies in Toronto, boiled to perfection just like your Babcia used to make. How do I know this? Well, y'all never shut up about it when you're here. Seriously... All joking aside, we take a great pride in our homemade pierogies. Whether savory (coincidentally, a GREAT Jawbox song. You should probably Spotify that) or sweet, we have something for everyone. ... Speaking of sweet pillows of joy, we have THREE different flavours of fruit filled pierogies to satiate your taste buds. "But Dan, I know your menu inside and out, there's only two flavours of fruit pierogies!" Well, guess what? You're wrong (you're not actually wrong, just let me explain this. Give it a second)! While our menu does tell you about the wonderful strawberry and blueberry options, we have a third, secret option available for those in the know. Which, will be all of you now, I guess. But the first rule of pierogi club is that you don't talk about pierogi club. I'm really rambling here... Not listed on the menu is Sour Cherry pierogies. They are as good as you think, seriously.
