Toddler 2 had loads of fun during their Pajama Day and kept busy with all sorts of Easter activities, including their Easter egg hunt inside and outside! They each went home with a beautiful Easter gift they made all on their own - well, almost.
Junior Casa had a special day on Thursday, welcoming the Easter long weekend. Fun activities inside and of course, the much anticipated Easter Egg Hunt outside.
What an incredible experience it was for our toddlers today to have their first cooking class! Our little chefs were fascinated by the process of mixing up the ingredients for their cupcakes and then decorating them to a T. The best part of all was, of course, when they got to eat their own delicious treat!
Food and nutrition are the focus this month in Casa B. Students created their very own vegetable gardens as they learnt about root vegetables in fun and creative ways.
Practical Life activities are pure joy for the toddlers. They immerse in the process and take great pleasure in being a contributing member of their community while learning essential life skills.
Many of you have asked what had happened to our gazebo in the screening area. Watch the video that was just posted. The act of Mother nature caught on camera...
Last weekend's storm
Students in Casa A internalize the concept by disassembling the Puzzle Map of North America, placing the puzzle pieces representing the countries onto the control map and reciting the name of each country. Andrew traces the outline of Greenland to create his tactile memory of its shape. Emma aims for precision as she carefully positions Nigeria on the control map.
STEM challenges are a regular part of Lower Elementary students hands-on learning experiences. The task here was to create the tallest tower (at least 10 inches tall) that could stand for a minute without falling down, using only straws and pipe cleaners, and, within a set time limit. Our students' imagination, problem solving, engineering and creating thinking skills were put to the test while having loads of fun.
Toddlers, after carving their pumpkin and feeling and experiencing the slimy pumpkin goop with all their senses, spiced up their day even more with a fun dance session.
An exciting new lesson on the Story Alphabet inspired Marcus to 'write' a beautiful thought about his family. His sentence was completed with perfection and with no assistance from his teachers! Then he continued his work with the illustration of his impeccably fabricated story.
Wishing you all a Spook-tacular Halloween with the toddlers' pumpkin creations!
COVID or not, our Toddlers and Junior Casa children have been having lots of fun inside as well as outside and enjoying the beautiful colours of the season. The joy in their eyes brings happiness into our hearts.
Our Dear Mr. Hatch...
"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words but to live by them." - John F. Kennedy. HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all our families and staff!
We REMEMBERed today. Each classroom participated in the 2 minutes of silence in-class and online, to remember and to express our gratitude to those who fought for us and sacrificed their life for our future. We also remembered for our very own veteran, Mr. Bill Hatch whose family owned and lived in our building giving us our school's name. Mr. Hatch fought in WWII at the age of 15. He had been a regular visitor at our school for many years and shared fascinating stories about his family, himself and Hatch House. On Remembrance Days he spoke of his military rankings and his experiences as an air cadet and gifted us with priceless photographs of past history. Sadly, Mr. Hatch had passed away at the age of 94 just before our new school year started. Lest We Forget.
We have all been adjusting to the back to school days in this out-of-the-ordinary September almost as smoothly as in a regular school year. Naturally, there were some tears, and the first few days were much more diffcult for our toddlers and junior casa students after all these months being at home. Nevertheless, we are very proud of everyone for a great first couple of weeks. Thank you to all the HHMS staff and our families for a smooth transition and to all our children for bringing the excitement back to school!
Lower Elementary students love their new space this year. Whether on the floor, on a table, outside or online they are eager to dive into learning every day.
Welcome back to our Facebook page! After a long few months of silence, worries and uncertainties we finally opened our doors for the new school year and welcomed our children and families back at Hatch House. We have prepared for the big day with the greatest care and attention to all the details to make sure our focus remains on the safety, health and well-being of our community. Here are some pictures of pre-opening.
Wishing all the fathers - grandfathers, great-grandfathers, uncles, brothers, step fathers - a peaceful, relaxing and loving Father's Day!

Our Elementary students are serious about virtual learning and their successes are remarkable. They have been enjoying their online classes with true Montessori spirit. The classrooms have become a beautiful tight-knit and close, supportive community, and students have been demonstrating their rapidly growing maturity and responsibility. The teachers' hard work is really paying off and we are very proud.

May this Easter weekend be a joyous and happy time spent with your loved ones and the season to be of hope and new beginnings. HAPPY EASTER - HAPPY SPRING!
Sadly, with the rapid spread of COVID-19 our school have reached the point of the inevitable; the Ontario Government ordered all private schools and licenced child care facilities to close temporarily. We are so grateful for the unparalleled support of our families. Please know that we are in this together and we can combat COVID-19. If we do our part we can all reach for that small ray of sunshine that will grow bigger with each reach and will clear the skies bringing us much better days and a bright new start for all of us when we return to school.
Fantastic turnout at our Parent Evening yesterday! This very informative and educational event provided the opportunity for the parents of all of our children's age groups to learn and gain invaluable insights about the interconnected, spiral Montessori curriculum. Through presentations of some of the key Montessori materials from every area of learning our teachers demonstrated how children progress through their beautiful developmental journey as they move from one level to the next and beyond. We hope that this evening gave more meaning to the stories your child brings home from school every day and that the presentation ignited great family conversations about your child's further education. Thank you all who joined us last night and we thank our teachers for their hard work!
