Christmas Wish!!! We have a new friend, his name is Cullin. Cullin is a young man from Spring City, Tennessee. Cullin has gone through some tough things as a young man (which you can read below). He is a warrior, with a big heart, and battles each day. As a form of therapy for serious burns to his body, Cullin has started tying flies. Recently, Cullin put up some of his flies for sale on FB Marketplace in the area where he lives. He was selling 12 files for $20. Instead of s...upport, he got made fun of, and people were extremely mean. He almost quit tying. It is our Christmas wish that all you wonderful people out there, show Cullin some love. Please help us show him that this community is full of amazing, supportive people. Whether it is some kind words, or some tying tips, any support is greatly appreciated. Please feel free to share! Here it is: When Cullin was in 5th grade he was diagnosed with being on the Autism spectrum. Most people wouldn't know unless you're around him and picked up on his ticks. Cullin has a big heart and decide long ago that he would give back to people who have disabilities. From being a teacher's helper for special Ed to fundraising for wound warrior/fallen solider projects by making woodcrafts on the lathe. Last January Cullin had an incident and was burnt over 80% of his body. He was throwing wood into our heater and a coal about the size of a baseball popped out. He panicked hitting a bottle of rubbing alcohol that was sitting on my desk breaking the top and spilling near the coal . When he reached for it, the rubbing alcohol caught flame and exploded on him. He spent 3 wks in Vanderbilt hospital on the the burn unit. Even in this time he found how to give to another in need. There was a 3 yr.old boy there whom was in a house fire, that he would play games with and rock to sleep because the little boy refused to leave Cullin's room. In the last few months he has had to find ways to keep his hands from getting stiff, he's always been an avid fisher and started watching the guys around our area fly fish. In true Cullin form he decided on teaching himself to tie fishing flies, which has helped his mobility in his hands. He decided this would be a great way to make money for his projects . He has sold a few around our little town and Gatlinburg and has also done a lot of trading. He wanted to sell some for Christmas and you all know the rest.

Fishing report from Tunkwa. Great week to head out there!! . . This week's fishing report! ... 'Epic' or 'the best day fishing of my life' were just a couple of the comments from guests this past weekend! Fishing has been very good the past week, today chironomid hatches are heavy in size #12 and fish are feeding heavily on them. Water temperatures on the surface are 65-66F today with overcast conditions. Trollers have caught a few fish, as well as worms under a float, but they come in asking how to fish with chironomids, as they see how effective this presentation is right now. We have been trying to get them set up to fish them, you don’t need a flyrod to chironomid fish. If presented properly one can do just as well as folks with a spinning rod! The water will be at its warmest of the year this week so chironomid hatches should continue to be heavy and fish will be feeding on them. Hopefully the giant bomber size chironomids come off, large shucks have been seen and some spectacular reports from many. See you on the water!
