Medicine Hat High School 05.12.2020

This virtual session will allow parents and caregivers to have a more intimate and school focused conversation about mental health and resiliency. Participants can bring questions for our school teams, engage in the discussion, or just come to listen. This session also gives us the opportunity to introduce you to the supports that are available in your child’s school. The session will be moderated by Division Psychologist Claire Petersen. Parents can register by emailing Nina Duncan at [email protected]. Once registered parents will receive a link to the virtual discussion through zoom. This session will be limited to 20 people and will not be recorded. https://bit.ly/366QPHs

The government of Alberta has recently declared a public health emergency and new aggressive measures have been put in place to address the rising spread of COVID-19 in our province. MHHS will be impacted by the new aggressive health measures, as students in grades 7-12 will move into Scenario 3 starting on Nov 30, 2020. We understand that students and families will have questions about this change and we look forward to communicating a plan as soon as possible. We look forward to communicating with families once we have more information to share. #MHPSDfamilySTRONG

Due to power outages, all schools will be closed for today. Non-diploma exams will be rescheduled for tomorrow. Students who were writing a diploma today can still go in to write as school administration will be in the building, OR you may write in January. Stay safe everyone!

November 9, 2020: 6:34 a.m. SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED! Crews have been out all night clearing school sidewalks and parking lots, now a number of our schools are withou...t power. Due to power failures across the city, there will be no school for MHPSD students and school staff on Monday November 9, 2020. November 8, 2020: 9:20 p.m. UPDATE: We have just been informed by Southland Transportation that they will no longer be able to provide school bus transportation for students tomorrow because the buses in their yard are being blocked in by snowdrifts. Buses are canceled for tomorrow, November 9, 2020. We recognize and respect that some families will choose to keep their children home from school during inclement weather. If you decide to keep your kids home please inform the school of their absence. Our schools will remain open to receive students of families who are able to get them there safely. We are monitoring the weather forecast and understand that the snow is expected to subside overnight. Please check this post and our website for updates tomorrow morning in case circumstances change. November 8, 2020: 4:40 p.m. SCHOOLS ARE OPEN TOMORROW. It may be cold and snowy outside, but it will be warm inside our schools. MHPSD schools will be open tomorrow and school busses will be running. Please expect some delays in school bus pick up times tomorrow morning due to current snowfall and unfavourable road conditions. If you have any questions about delayed bus routes please contact Southland Transportation in the morning 403.526.4655. After school pick up and drop off: It is highly likely that road conditions will lead to delayed bus routes after school.. We will keep families updated with what to expect. As always getting kids back and forth to school safely is our priority. Ensure that your children are dressed warmly in their winter gear tomorrow. #MHPSDfamily #medhat
