Have Faith Fitness 28.04.2021

I will be starting a new group on March 1 for anyone that is interested in a reset. It’s not really a challenge, the only challenge is to do your best every day, and then do a little bit more. I will continue to offer free morning classes at 7 AM on zoom and they will be posted to Facebook live for anybody that doesn’t catch them in the morning. There is a private Facebook account that you can also join. The classes are designed for everybody. I will have modifications availa...ble for anybody that needs them. There is always lots of options. Most classes require dumbbells only and some are body weight only. There is also a nutrition component since you can’t out exercise a bad diet. We will be going over some tricks and some recipes to help you achieve that goal. DM if interested in joining.

Happy Monday. Special shout out to these beautiful ladies that proved that they are stronger than their loudest excuses. Way to start the year off on the right foot. For those of you considering a New Year’s resolution I encourage you to keep it simple. Those that know me know my three C’s. Calories in calories out and consistency. If you want to maintain a healthy weight your calories in should equal your calories out otherwise adjust accordingly as in the pictures. If you are unsure what that = should be there’s lots of great free websites to calculate this. I personally use my fitness pal and find that it has worked best for me. This ...will give you what your daily intake should be in order to maintain a healthy weight. You may be surprised how few calories you need an a day according to your lifestyle. The key is choosing the right food in order to feel your body Just a quick reminder food is only fuel. Food is not entertainment and food is not therapy. The next challenge may be logging your food and keeping track of the actual calories that you eat. My fitness pal will also help with this. It may take a little bit of work at the beginning but before you know it you’ll be logging and it’ll become a habit Also keep in mind this must be sustainable. There’s no quick fixes or pills to take to do this overnight. You did not gain the extra weight overnight, you shouldn’t lose it overnight. You’ll just gain it back. Here are your classes for this upcoming week. Hope you will join me on my mat. Monday’s class will require some medium weights if you have them, but also some sort of step, chair, or bench. We will be stepping up on this so make sure it’s sturdy. Also doing tricep dips from it. Enjoy your rest day ( unless of course you’ve already had a rest day this week ) weather is perfect for some LISS ( low intensity steady state ). This includes a nice brisk walk, keeping your pace up constantly but not too much that you can’t speak without gasping. I’m around Uxbridge this afternoon if anyone wants to walk the trails. Free advice: get those Christmas lights up today. You’ll regret you didn’t when it’s minus 20.

I don’t know what I love more my before and after chats with these ladies, for the actual workout and the feeling I have after it. As we go into lockdown 2.0 I remind myself the importance of mental health as well as physical health. Chating allows for socializing and the feeling of solving all the worlds problems. Feel free to jump on either before the class or after the class and join in on the conversation. But I’m going to warn you you want to join in on all the fun of the class. tomorrow’s class is upper body strength training. There is the option of medium dumbbells and have a chair, couch, or coffee table close by for tricep dips. Hope to see you on the screen.

To all my November challenge peeps... You guys are awesome. Just to step up and take this on. Kudos! I hope the logging or whatever you use for nutrition worked well last week. This week I want to focus on strength training. I can’t emphasize enough the importance of lifting weights. And I don’t mean 2 or 3 pounds here and there. What doesn’t challenge you does t change you. I know. I know. It’s hard in these times to find dumbbells. Get creative or swing by my house.... There’s some in my garage. Please. Progressive overload means increasing your weights gradually. How do you know how much you should be lifting? Thought you’d never ask (am I the only one that googles this at 3 am when I can’t sleep?). When you get to the 8th rep and you could do a few more, you need to increase. If you get to 8 and the next 3 will give you the UEF(ugly exercise face) you are lifting a good weight. If you get to the 8th rep and your form is compromised,drop them weights. Here’s some tips if you just can’t find anything heavy to lift: Slow it down Stick at the top of the movement Add a band for resistance Double up with 2 dumbbells in one hand Close your eyes (seriously, not sure why but increases intensity). Take note I never said go fast. This will increase your endurance not your muscle mass. Enjoy this beautiful weather we are having. Get outside for some NEAT (non exercise activity). NOVEMBER CHALLENGE: Rule #1 : Follow a nutrition plan If you are already following a food program and it’s working, great. Keep going If you are looking or needing an alternative to your eating habits, I encourage you to consider logging. I truly only believe in order to live a healthy, well, lifestyle is to use calories in versus calories out. I personally don’t believe in deny yourself of certain food groups (unless it’s been recommended by a doctor) but if this works for ...you... Keep in mind food is fuel. Just fuel. It’s not entertainment. I think not therapy. You must get enough fuel. But you only need so much fuel. Choose wisely. If you need to know how much fuel you need in a day there’s lots of freebies online to calculate this. I use My Fitness Pal. It’s free. It’s take 2 minutes to sign up and it’s very user friendly. I know logging and counting calories is not a fan favourite. But I assure you. Do this for a bit and it will be a habit. I also encourage you to track macros. These are carbs, fat and protein. MFP will give you how much you should be getting each day and this will be a huge benefit. I try to have protein with each meal. This makes me feel a little fuller and helps repair the muscles I’ve worked that day. If anyone needs any help with this or has any questions please just shoot me a message. Anyone else feeling the effects of DST? I just asked if it was too early to go to bed? Good news is tomorrow morning you will feel more awake at 7 since it’s really 8! Reminder to get your clothes out and ready to go (or wear them to bed if you need to). Whatever gets you a spiraling up in the morning. I’m going to try to have a live Facebook for those that can’t make 7 and on Zoom for those that can. Remember dumbbells/ soup cans and a band if you have one. See you then.

November Challenge ; getting ready This morning was all about getting the laptop out and testing my technology skills (with my IT guy close by). I’m so excited that some of you have decided to join me. I need to get back to virtual classes. For those that responded to the November challenge or even considering, I encourage you to look around and find some weights. I know it’s tough to find some dumbbells these days, but get creative. Pumpkins make great kettle bells. Firewood can be used for dumbbells, laundry detergent jugs also makes wonderful dumbbells. Challenge will begin November 1st so you have a week to scout some out. Have lots available to progress as well as the month goes on. You WILL get stronger.
