Students from our SK/1 had some wonderful moments together while learning remotely! We are so proud of all our families for embracing the learning with our school team.

As Remote Learning comes to an end for us, we wanted to share some more great moments from our time in Remote Learning!! Darth Vader even came to visit our Grade 3/4 class this week!

We shifted to remote learning this week. It has come with some challenges but most importantly it has come with some wonderful learning moments worth celebrating! HBPS student, Ben worked online with his teacher during math, built a structure and enjoyed recess time outside on his family rink. So proud of his hard work this week.

We are truly blessed with the land that surrounds HBPS. It has become a classroom to our students. Our grade 5/6 students imagined they were Indigenious Hunters, staying completely motionless for 7 minutes. They also discovered a large snapping turtle. The learning the land provides our students is inspirational.

Learning in the beautiful outdoor spaces that surround HBPS continues to inspire our students. Our grade 5/6 class learned about the artwork of Andy Goldsworthy and created their own masterpieces using materials in nature.

We continue to enjoy the great outdoors as a classroom. Our kindergartens were inspired after reading 'The Dot' by Peter Reynolds.

Thank you to everyone in the community and beyond for your support. We are making a plan to recreate these outdoor learning spaces. We will reach out to those offering to support this process. We are so fortunate to be in Havelock-Belmont.

We are speechless...this weekend someone destroyed two of our outdoor learning spaces-cutting and tearing down sunshades and pulling out posts that held them up.

What an amazing first week back to school!! HBPS students did lots of learning in our new outdoor learning spaces, the forest and in the school. They were learning about patterns, constellations, finding fractals in the forest, bucket drumming, how to properly wash their hands and enjoying drama outside. We are so proud of our students. We sure did miss them!

We all know school will look different this fall. At HBPS we have been busy starting to create 10 outdoor learning spaces to give our students and teachers the best chance of success. We started today and wanted to share with everyone the start of our project. We are still waiting for our sun shades to arrive and be installed. We will be ready for our students when they return to learn with us. School is going to 'rock' at HBPS this fall!!! These outdoor learning spaces could... not have happened without the support of our community and staff. We are so thankful for everyone's support. Thank you to: The Mauro family for leading this project. Thank you for the rocks, stumps, tractor and your time assembling these learning spaces. Agata and family for the donation of stumps for seating. Lindsey and family for their donation of stumps for seating. Thank you to Mike Hamilton for digging and planting the poles for our sun shades. Thank you to Mike Magnus for helping with the project. Thank you to the teachers -Mrs. Magnus, Mrs. Douglas, Mrs. Kennedy and Mrs. McCredie for giving of your time to help create these spaces.
