For the last week of camp, we went to Black Creek Pioneer Village and had a blast trying on pioneer clothes, making wool, and dipping candles! It was a fantastic end to the summer camp for the 2015 year. We wish all of the campers a happy and safe summer; we hope to see you again next summer!
During our second last week of camp, the girls had the opportunity to learn a great deal about Canadian history at the Fort York National Historic Site. Here are a few pictures of our fun-filled educational day:
The girls created a board game from scratch! "In it to win it" features math, science, sports, animals, and popular culture questions as well as many other fun twists and turns!
During our field trip to the Ontario Science Centre, the campers learned about rocks, astronomy, paper making, electricity, chemical reactions and so much more!
During week 3, the Hawthorn Day Camp girls visited the Art Gallery of Ontario and the Bata Shoe Museum. They had a blast discovering European and African art, as well as learning about the history of shoes. Here are a few of the extreme shoes we saw:
We also made ice cream from condensed milk, whipping creams, and lots of Oreo cookies!
Week 3 at Hawthorn Day Camp - Cupcake decorating for one of our sweetest camper's birthday!
Week 2 at Hawthorn Day Camp - The girls have their aprons on and paintbrushes in hand to make flowers with popsicle sticks!
On our first field trip, campers took the ferry to Toronto's Centre Island and enjoyed building castles on the beach, visiting Franklin's garden, and petting animals at the farm!
