Summer is just around the corner here in Victoria. Warmer weather, longer days and beach time are among us. Here are a few of our tops summer health tips to keep you energized and healthy all throughout the summer: 1. There is nothing better than a cool smoothie on a hot day! Try adding some healthy fats like ground flaxseed, chia seeds, hemp hearts or nut butter to your smoothie to give it some staying power. You can also add in a serving of protein powder to make it a full... meal, perfect for a quick breakfast or post workout meal. 2. Get into the habit of starting your day with a big glass of water with some lemon, This is perfect to rehydrate your cells and help detoxify your liver. Carry a water bottle with you at all times so you can fill it up as needed. Try incorporating coconut water for some electrolytes or try adding a pinch of sea salt into your water for a boost. 3. Eat fruits and veggies that are in season. Berries, fresh herbs, sprouts, leafy greens, corn, cucumber and tomatoes all grow in abundance this time of year. Shop your local farmers market for fresh, organic and local produce. 4. Move your workout outdoors. Who wants to workout in a stuffy gym when the sun is shining outside!
