Dear Families, I am writing to inform you that unfortunately Hawthorne on Essex Daycare will be unable to reopen on July 27th as a result of the low enrollment of children requiring care during the summer. Following the recent parent surveys, I was satisfied that there was enough interest to reopen the centre during summer. However, upon contacting parents to confirm attendance at the Daycare during August, parents who had previously indicated they would require care no longer did. I will be presenting four shows everyday from Thursday, March 26 until Sunday, March 29. There will be two different age groupings: music for kids age 4 and under, and stories, music, and games for kids 5 - 10. Kids in the 4 and under group should have ready a drum or maraca. For March 26, kids in the 5 and over group should have a white towel, and either a costume, puppet, or doll of the following characters: A princess, a knight, a king, and a dragon. Please send an email to request the props needed for the March 27, 28, and 29 sessions. If you would like to participate, download the Zoom app on mobile or computer and use the 'Meeting ID' and 'Password' associated with each meeting. Please log on about 10 minutes before with your child's first name signed in. The Music for 4 and under sessions will be around 30 minutes and the Story sessions for 5 and over will be around 45 minutes. All sessions are Pay What You Can. The full-day care as well as the before- and after-school programs will be affected. The CUPE Union representing school support staff and Ontario Government have reached a tentative agreement. Hawthorne-on-Essex Daycare will be open regular operating hours on Monday October 7th: 7:30am to 6:00pm. Based on the tentative agreement having been reached, Hawthorne-on-Essex Daycare is optimistic that we will be able to provide regular hours of care for the remainder of the week. The hope is to build on some of the daycare's past activities to create simple social get-togethers for parents to hang out and kids to play.
