In the midst of a global pandemic and a spring blizzard and then this hits my feed. But still a gooder. May we all be so lucky as to ride a trusted mount until the end.

In a day and age where winning trumps all, be a horseman first. The rest will follow...or not. But at least you will have the satisfaction of knowing you've done right by your mounts.

Happy #internationalwomensday. It's pretty awesome that we are involved in one of the rare sports where men and women compete on a level playing field and where a good horse person is a good horse person no matter how you slice it. Don't take that for granted!

I will admit that eventing is not my thing so I feel commenting on the sport - especially in light of the tragic loss of a Canadian horse and rider this week - may be a bit out of my lane. However, Bill Wofford is more than qualified to put in his two cents and I must say that I have yet to read such a comprehensive and well articulated article on the subject of safety in cross country. The sport of eventing is in the midst of a perfect storm and radical change is necessary in order to keep horses and riders safe. Here's hoping his perspective is taken seriously by the powers that be and we will not have to create anymore hashtags or GoFundMe campaigns for fallen riders. Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Katherine and Kerry On and we hope that their loss will not be in vain.

Growing up is hard! Our favourite young guy, Jinx, made his first trip to town today for a float in preparation for his continued training. So good to get a good report from Dr. Mike. A quick touch up, discussions of his age and he was left to sleep off the drugs while the other boys in the herd had their turns. Thanks to the Dawson Creek Vet Clinic for helping us keep our boys ready for work! (And for the extra help managing all the boys while I stumped around on crutches) #growingup #triptotown #floatsallround #sleepingitoff #jinx

My husband's rope horse, Macho, has a spiffy mustache that most hipsters would envy. But in these cold temps, it becomes a bit of an issue. He wasn't super keen on me catching him but once I did corner him and melt it off, he was pretty thrilled. #mustachehazard #machoman #frostyface
