You know the stars have aligned for a photo shoot when you arrive on location and a) no one is there b) the sun starts setting and c) you have to take 5 before you start photographing because the view is just too good

Getting a glimpse of that last light during this family photoshoot last October. It kind of feels like yesterday, kind of feels like an entire year ago. Excited for our next session when the cherry blossoms decide to come out

You don’t know what you have until it’s gone, tell me about it. I’m sure I’m not alone here when I say I miss weddings. The excitement from start til finish, knowing you will remember that day for the rest of your life whether it’s your own wedding or your best friend’s wedding. It’s quite a ride to be a part of so many of them. Today marks roughly 1 month until my first wedding of the season. But for now, I’m going to reminisce about this one

Hi friends! I thought I would reintroduce myself here because it’s really important to hire a photographer you like (especially for your wedding). This should give you more insight into who you might be working with one day Besides being a photographer, I am also fantastic at making a fresh bowl of popcorn. It’s a skill I use quite often and yes, it is an art. I lived in Spain for four months while studying abroad and spent the majority of the time traveling along the coast... or country hopping. My family comes from Germany and the Netherlands, so I was able to meet family that I had only seen in pictures. I also started that trip walking the streets of Greece where my parents fell more in love, and ended the trip in Morocco where I experienced a Turkish bath, snake charmers and an overnight trip in the desert. I think Vancouver Island is arguably the best place to live. I am able to spend my summers on the boat, surfing, camping, playing in huge slo-pitch tournaments, and of course partaking in the addiction that is spike ball. In the winter months it’s more hikes, trips up to the mountain, being close to the ocean, and racket sports (squash, ping pong, tennis, etc). I grew up playing competitive sports, so i’d like to think that during photoshoot days, I can hustle. I’m a huge water baby and love to swim or be by the water, but I hate showers. They are just such a chore and brushing curly hair doesn’t come easy. I don’t love grocery shopping either - I am a firm believer that everyone should try ordering their groceries online at least once in their life (it seriously saves so much time and it’s free) I love to create. The process of taking photos or filming, then spending time editing to see what kind of magic can happen - that’s what it’s all about for me. Not so much the social media side of things, I still have a hard time staying consistent on here when all I want to do is shoot and edit. That’s all for now. I hope this helped you get a better understanding of who you’d be hiring if we ever work together! Photo by the lovely Wild Shay Photography!

These two are right where they belong, back to their home in Bali! Those blonde locks belong on a warm beach. Fingers crossed that our next photoshoot is at their place

Intimate Wedding at Gowlland Harbour Oceanfront Resort is always stunning from start to finish. This beautiful bride had quite the view while getting ready for her wedding

A massive congratulations to these three for welcoming their newest member of the family, Harper! This is definitely a late post but here are some photos from a few weeks back. The four of us headed up to Mt. Washington to get in the snow for the afternoon!

Pretty typical December day on Vancouver Island hey? Relaxing at the lake with the new pup and taking in a bit of sun. Lots of magic at this McIvor Lake shoot. We joked about how the lack of activities this year meant a lack of photos compared to previous years. Therefore, to make up for it, a couple photo session was in order!

A huge thank you to Wild Shay Photography for capturing these photos of me filming my last wedding of 2020. Shayla took these and countless other stunning photos from this day while I filmed alongside her. It was such a blast to work with another creator and see a wedding day from an entirely new perspective. It was a wonderful experience and so so nice to have a partner in crime on the day

Can you believe these views are right here on Vancouver Island? Specifically, Nanaimo, BC. I felt like I was somewhere in Europe, watching the waves crash along the rocks. What a gem for photos.

Really love heading back to the place it all started for some grad shoots

Really starting to miss spending my days following amazing people around on one of the happier days of their lives. It's weird because at the end of wedding season, there's somewhat of a burnout. Going 100 miles an hour all summer has a tendency to tucker a photographer out. But here I am, roughly 2 months out, really just missing it.

Found this gem in the archives today. At the end of every sunny day wedding, sunset photos are a must And having your friends around to make you laugh is even better.
