DON'T VEER FOR DEER!! It's the time of year when deer are on the move! Here are some safety tips to consider while driving: - Scan the shoulders of the road while driving... - Use high beams when and where it's safe to do so - Deer often travel in groups, so if you see one, SLOW DOWN because there is probably another one nearby - Dawn and dusk are times when deer are most active - As farmers harvest their fields deer are forging for food and moving to safety, especially around corn fields - Practice extra care while driving, wear a seatbelt, keep both hands on the wheel and follow the speed limits - Apply deer whistles to your vehicle (but remember these are only a precaution and not a guarantee against deer accidents) IF YOU DO SEE A DEER: - Apply the brakes firmly and stay in your lane. IF YOU COLLIDE WITH A DEER: - Move your car safely to the side of the road - Call the police - Stay away from the deer - Contact your insurance company - When it's safe, check your car to see if you are able to drive it to safety #staysafe #stayalert #deersafety
