Hazara Graveyard

For Mohammed Ali Jinnah Pakistan was a dream where pluralism would be a reality, and people of all faiths and ethnicities would be able to live harmoniously tog...ether. He would be weeping to see the nightmare it has turned into for ethnic and religious minorities as extremist Muslims, aided and abetted by Pakistani politicians of all stripes, behave the same way that extremist Jewish settlers and terrorists do towards Palestinians. Reading such stories makes me happy that my parents decided to move to Canada, and very sad for those Pakistanis who have to face such terrorism. The future of Pakistan is bleak if the elements in that country that commit such heinous acts aren't expunged. Pakistan means "land of the pure" implying a heightened level of morality. I see no such thing when I see stories like this (which is far too often).

Day 6. Thousands of Hazaras are demanding justice in Quetta, Pakistan. The community will bury the dead bodies sooner or later. Even after the protests end, wha...t remains a concern is the future of the children of victims. These children will end up on the street even though they had nothing to do with the chaos and violent mess that surrounds them. Everyone doesn’t have the opportunity to leave the country to get refuge. Those who even managed to escape from this community may now be languishing behind the barbed wires in refugee detention centers. Some may have drowned in the Indian or the Mediterranean ocean in the hope of reaching safety. I like to think that at least a few have resettled somewhere safe like myself. In the long run, education is the only option to end this misery. We should at least help the children to continue their studies and engage them in society.
