To our valued customers: Sheepskin orders are being processed and will be ready in time for Christmas. There has been a slight delay and December 18 is the new shipping date. The Fall Shearing is now complete! We have eight (8) beautiful Icelandic fleeces available for your projects. These are the best of the best as far as quality goes and Bill is rightly proud of this shearing job.

Friends, tomorrow is the last Hazelton Farmers' Market of the season. We're bringing lots of delicious treats prepared fresh this week from locally grown organic apples. We'll also have info available for Making Agriculture Sustainable in the Hazeltons and membership information :-)

Our sheep are amazing browsers and our Forest Garden is quite overgrown this year due to excessive amounts of rain and minimal inputs for maintenance. The harvests have been great so we want to get the garden cleaned up and do some pruning and figured a little help would be a good thing. Crossing fingers for a good outcome.

We are harvesting and drying hops - and making some fresh hopped Chinook Smash! If anyone is looking for fresh or dried we have very limited quantities so best to get in touch asap.

Does anybody in the valley need apples pressed? We are running our equipment this Wednesday and Friday on our farm by appointment. PM me for details.

Maeve is getting bigger by the day - I can see her sweet face getting a little bit longer and her eyes a little bit wiser.

I just love our Forest Garden. Today I picked our plum tree and there must be 30 lbs there! Making some Asian Plum Sauce and will be Boiling Water Bath preserving it so we can enjoy it all winter and sell some at the Hazelton Farmers Market!

We brought home our LGD in training last night. It's going to be hard not to love her up too much but we will try to minimize that so she can do her job properly.

This is the original post that led to us finding Maeve. Maremma/Pyrenees Guard Dogs We have 10 puppies, parents are both working guard dogs that are devoted to protecting their flock. Here at Salmon River Ranch, their flock consists of cattle, horses, chickens, turkeys, ducks, pigs, and grandchildren The puppies parents are loyal to us and intolerant of intruders (bears, wolves, ravens, hawks, eagles, and cougars) in our case. They even keep the grandkids in the house yard. Their intelligence and loyalty never cease to amaze me. Puppies will be available after the 3rd of September and come with vet check, first vaccination and deworming.

Maeve comes home September 3. We can hardly wait!

September 3 we bring home a new puppy! It's important to have two good guard dogs on our farm and ever since Cleo left, we've been preparing for the next great girl. We'll call her Maeve.
