For a variety of reasons, it can be necessary to feed your baby a supplement. A supplement, or "top-up", can be expressed breast milk or formula. Depending on your breastfeeding goals, early use of a bottle can be detrimental to successful breastfeeding. If you want to breastfeed but your baby needs a supplement, there's many ways to do this that avoid using a bottle. Check out this poster we made helping explain the differences and how to use each device to do spoon, cup... or syringe feeding. And don't forget, if you need help - we're just a phone call away and are open 7 days a week.
Have some breastfeeding questions? Looking for support? We’re offering this virtual session every week! Call or Email to sign up. Registration closes Wednesday at 9am.
Check out these awesome learning opportunities, taught by a interdisciplinary group of clinicians. We are big fans of multidisciplinary teams and these classes are a wonderful demonstration of the benefits of working together to help deliver exceptional patient care.

Have you heard about the Latch-On challenge facilitated by La Leche League Canada? Saturday, October 3, 3:30pm (EST) Virtual Breastfeeding Challenge/Latch On - Quintessence Foundation holds the Challenge to provide support for breastfeeding women. Breastfeeding has many well-documented benefits including better health for both mothers and babies. However, many women fail to meet their own breastfeeding goals and wean their children prematurely, well before meeting the reco...mmended guidelines. Two of the biggest hurdles for mothers continue to be lack of support and marginalization by the community. The Challenge strives to increase public awareness of the normalacy of breastfeeding, the benefits to mother, child and community and the ways in which women need support to achieve the recommended duration for breastfeeding. Register here: https://www.lllc.ca/breastfeeding-challenge-2020
9 mamas, 9 babies, one midwife and one floofy mascot! Even a dreary afternoon can’t stop this crew from our group walks. Grateful for the opportunity to connect with one another while getting outside & moving our bodies.
Based on feedback- we will meet in the parking lot (by the water tower) of the Collingwood YMCA and walk from there! Look for Midwife Julie who will lead today’s group!
Brrrr this dreary October weather can be tough for getting outdoors. But bundle up and join us for a walk tomorrow afternoon. Let’s switch it up this week and walk along the trails in the Arboretum & Awen Gathering Place located behind the McDonalds on First Street. See second photo for a map to marked location. Don’t forget to dress for the weather! See you tomorrow.
Have you used our clinic? Interested in participating in research around this new model of care? Check out this poster with details about how to participate!
It might have been a tiny bit chilly but we’re continuing with our outdoor group postpartum sessions for as long as we can!

#waveoflight2020
Join us today @7pm for the #waveoflight2020 as we honour babies we have lost through miscarriage, stillbirth, medical termination and infant death
Fingers crossed Mother Nature cooperates!
As many as one in five pregnancies end in miscarriage, and each year in Canada there are approximately six stillborn infants in 1000 total births. On October 15, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day, we acknowledge and remember these losses, as well as the unique grief bereaved parents experience. Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day also provides the opportunity to show support to the many families across Canada who have suffered the loss of a pregnancy or the death of... an infant. Join us today at 7pm and light a candle in support of #waveoflight2020. For more information and events happening today, please check out: https://pailnetwork.sunnybrook.ca//pregnancy-and-infant-l/
We’ll plan to meet rain or shine! Meet us at 1pm for a walk, or 2pm for physically distanced circle time in the park. See you tomorrow!
