Monday September 21 Rusty 1 Timer out matched vs LG HC It really cannot be overstated how rusty the 1 Timer looked on Monday night versus the LG HC. Balls kept ...bouncing through them, the defense had little help and the offense struggled to connect on their plays. Things mercifully ended in a landslide of both games. The LG HC have known each other a little too long, so long that it felt like riding a bike after years without trying. Nobody missed a beat-from their end as goals came by committee. Payam Assadi did lead the way in that area striking five times in two games while N.Kokovidis had the luxury of setting up lots of talent-from the back end resulting in six assists. The LG HC, like everyone else has been out of action for a while, but tonight they showed no signs of a let down in their attempt to make a push for the playoffs. (2)1 Timer vs LG HC(6) (9)LG HC vs 1 Timer(2) Orient lay the hammer on Excalibur The Orient took out their frustration on Monday night after a disappointing outing only a week ago ,and unfortunately the Excalibur had to pay the price. They had all areas of their game dominate the Excalibur. There offense was running on all cylinders, the defense was sound and E.Paradis stopped all but one orange ball his way. It showed that everyone took accountability as the Orient look to strive for bigger and better things to come. A.Sayed sparked up some of the offense with five helpers and the captain F.Nasser led the way with a productive three goal night. Monday September 21 (Final division 2) Degenerates score 2 quick goals to shift series and claim championship What a way to turn things around. With just over a... minute remaining in game one, the Degenerates trailed 2-1 and it looked like the Classics would have taken a strangle hold in the series. It took only 25 seconds for the deficit to turn into a late lead thanks to who other their than their most prolific goal scorer. S.Marricco had narrowed the gap late in the first period and ultimately decided matters with less than a minute to go. The Degenerates felt that it was only a question of time before they took control of the series. They had a much better pace winning lots of loose battles and smelled blood entering game two where they took it to their opponent. Again, it was S.Marricco filling up the net, this time claiming three more tallies en route to a 4-0 shutout victory. As much as Marricco played a significant role throughout the playoffs, the Degenerates were in sync as a collective group getting plenty of contributions-from everyone. J.Atch clearly had their backs making plenty of key stops with the help of a committed defense in front of him. On behalf of Hockeyballe.com, congratulations go out to S.Sicuso and the Degenerates for finally taking it all. (2)The Classics vs Degenerates(3) Game 1 (4)Degenerates vs The Classics(0)Game 2 The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Sandro Marricco of the Degenerates. What more can you say for someone who consistently has the ability to score. In their most important night of the season, S.Marricco led the way again netting five out of his teams seven goals. Monday September 21 (Final division 1) Punishers bring winning pedigree, winners of 4vs4 division 1 Simply put, all Punishers knows is winning. When you go up a...nd down their roster many things jump out at you. The Bad Guys Inc knew this and despite formulating a game plan or sort of strategy, nothing went right-from the get go. The Punishers clearly had the extra jump in their step, and ran away with game one getting goals-from six different players along with a flawless performance between the pipes by M.Melo. Even though game one was a miss match, the Punishers knew that it wouldn’t come easy in the end. The Bad Guys Inc needed short memories after a thumping and regained their focus in a much more contested battle. For one full period, this contest was up for grabs. That was until an early second period surge put the Punishers back on track. P.Arkalis scored barely 20 seconds into the frame and N.Mackeen followed up only moments later to put his club back in the drivers seat. From-there, the Punishers knew in their heads that this series was a wrap despite the amount of time left over, especially when P.Arkalis posted his second for a three goal margin. On behalf of Hockeyballe.com, congratulations go out to John Fidrilis and the Punishers for capturing the first division 4v4 title. (1)Bad Guys Inc vs Punishers(6) Game 1 (4)Punishers vs Bad Guys Inc(3) Game 2 The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Mathew Melo of the Punishers. Knowing that their goaltender was determined and ready, the Punishers felt comfortable not needing to worry on him coming through in a big way. See more

Monday September 14 Division 1 Semi final K.Kavan scores shootout winner, Punishers force game 3 to knock out Orient... K.Kavan scored in the sixth shootout attempt of game 2, and the Punishers were able to force a third and deciding game that eventually ended the Orients season. Despite dropping the opening contest, the Punishers remained positive and knew that they weren't done yet. They had a chance to regulate matters in regulation time when P.Karvouriaris buried his second with just over a minute remaining. However, it took only moments later for the very same P.Karvouriaris to take an untimely penalty. There was no doubt the Orient smelled blood and evened the score almost immediately courtesy of B.Cabral's power play goal. That late tally certainly set the stage for a coin toss situation for both teams. Unfortunately for the Orient, six of their breakaway attempts failed to penetrate M.Melo. The Punishers knew then that the door was open for a clearer path. And who better than your main pieces to get it done. C.Gingras struck first, the Punishers tightened up and M.Melo took care of the rest en route to a 2-0 victory. The Orient will look back at many moments where they could have gotten it done, and will now have to deal with the anguish knowing that they could have easily been playing in next weeks final. (3)Orient vs Punishers(1) Game 1 (4)Punishers vs Orient(3) S.O Game 2 (0)Orient vs Punishers(2) Game 3 The SalumiVino player of the night goes to M.Melo of the Punishers. After stopping six shootout attempts to force a big game three, M.Melo delivered in an even bigger way by shutting the door completely to help send the Punishers to the final. This semi final victory for the Punishers will have them face off versus the Bad Guys Inc in next weeks final. That final will depend on how the Bad Guys Inc apply their game plan. By now, they know who the treats are. And even though they'll identify them, its easier said than done to try and stop them. Division 2 Semi final Classics progress after slow start to Excalibur As good of a start the Excalibur could have hoped for and got, this series started to slowly slip away as the games went on. The Classics eventually tilted the court in their favour in game two where they squeezed out a very close win thanks to a pair of goals by A.Zarzour. Still, everything was up for grabs and both sides knew anything could happen in only twelve minutes. But the Classics felt they had momentum swing their way after securing game two even though J.Azoulay got the Excalibur on board early on. The Classics is a balanced team that has impact players all over the line-up, great depth, and loads of experience to handle adversity. Eventually, it all paid off when G.DeMarinnis evened the score right before A.Henein tapped in a late rebound to seal the series. (1)The Classics vs Excalibur(4) Game 1 (2)Excalibur vs The Classics(3) Game 2 (2)The Classics vs Excalibur(1) Game 3 Solid goaltending give Nature Boys and Degenerates every opportunity to take series For how close this series was, at one point it just came down to who was going to be that late hero. Both sides traded wins in games that could have easily gone either way. With the series all tied up, game three was just a continuation of the previous matches as both sides kept it extremely close. So close that time was winding down to a dreaded shootout. That was up until D.Greco sent S.Marricco on a clear breakaway. And despite having your best goal scorer alone in front of a goaltender, P.Delli Colli was simply to good on this night to be beaten. However, some ball luck fell in the Degenerates favour and S.Marricco was able to grab is own rebound in order to feed the back of the net. That crushing marker left all but 20 seconds on the clock. There was no doubt that both netminders were stellar enabling their clubs to take the series. J.Atch was focused and steady throughout the entire three games for the Degenerates, as was P.Delli Colli for the Nature Boys leaving only one single play to make the entire difference. (2)Degenerates vs Nature Boys(4) Game 1 (1)Nature Boys vs Degenerates(3) Game 2 (2)Degenerates vs Nature Boys(1) Game 3 The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Sandro Marricco of the Degenerates. Despite having his fair share of missed chances, the natural sniper still found a way to riffle four big goals. The second division is now down to only two teams. The Classics and the Degenerates just came off an emotional series decided at the very end. It will go without saying that goaltending will play the biggest role. Both sides will generate shots and chances even though they defend well. Look for an intense battle with lots of pride and bragging rights on the line.

Thursday September 10 Fatal Demons avoid first round acquiring one single point vs Brewers All they needed and aimed for was to get one point in order to clinch... a first round bye. The Fatal Demons felt that it wasn’t a matter of if but when. However, after dropping the first game and then falling behind 2-0 in the second match, things started to look grim for the Fatal Demons. That was up until they put their act together notching two quick goals by P.Paikopoulos and F.Benhamadi. Fifty second was all it took for the Fatal Demons to turn it around and force the game into a shootout. They didn’t do much in the end but managed to get that odd point. The Brewers on the other hand played with a different goal in mind, and that was to simply prepare for next weeks playoffs. T.Fernando led the way in the first encounter producing three points en route to a 4-2 victory. Both teams later settled for a draw after trading two goals each in the shootouts. (4)Brewers vs Fatal Demons(2) (4)Fatal Demons vs Brewers(4) S.O Knights finish strong to trade wins with Horsemen After getting outplayed for much of the first game, the Knights were able to dig deep and respond with a lot more life in the ensuing match. They went-from being shutout to bagging four goals before taking it in the shootouts. Sometimes it takes a little spark, whether it’s a big save or a timely goal. And since the Knights couldn’t get on board earlier on, M.Dupuis eventually provided that spark early in the second game to get the ball rolling. Dupuis went on to set up two teammates while P.Karigiannis came up big tying the game with less than five minutes remaining. From-there, both sides went the extra mile where the Knights had the satisfaction of edging the Horsemen in the shootouts. (0)Knights vs Horsemen(3) (4)Horsemen vs Knights(6) S.O Family searching for answers after disappointing night The Brewers remained dominant versus the Family despite playing earlier vs the Fatal Demons. Normally, teams tend to come out sluggish but that clearly wasn’t the case as they blanked the Family 4-0. A.Angelis sparked his club with two first period goals and M.Gratton was stellar stopping every ball his way. Things did open up a lot more in the second game with the Family finding their scoring touch. The problem however was on the other side of the court. Its never a good habit when you give up as many goals as the Family did, especially a week prior to the playoffs. They know that in order to succeed in the playoffs, a structured defensive game will be required. Tonight showed no indication of it, but it doesn’t mean that M.Freda wont have enough time to address it. The Family have shown their ups and downs this season, and depending on how they approach their next challenge, nobody will really know what to expect-from them. (4)Brewers vs The Family(0) (4)The Family vs Brewers(7) The SalumiVino player of the night goes to Vinko Pandza of the Horsemen. Its always a good thing when your captain sets the example at an important time during the season. V.Pandza elevated his game producing six out of a possible seven points for the Horsemen. The Thursday night division regular season came to an end. The first two seeds with get an automatic pass to the semi finals. The first round match ups are as follows: (3)Assadi Consulting Inc vs The Family(6) The Family has no choice to tighten up against a team that can score. If they can some how slow the game down and patiently wait for their chances, than an upset wont be so surprising. (4)Brewers vs Horsemen(5) Both these teams have enough strengths to prevail. Like in most cases when two evenly matched teams meet, limiting mistakes plays a big role along with a little bit of luck. This one is a toss up.
