SUSPECT SOUGHT FOLLOWING A HATE-BIAS MOTIVATED INCIDENT IN VAUGHAN York Regional Police is seeking public assistance to identify a man who used hate-bias motiva...ted language and threatened a woman on a transit bus in the City of Vaughan. On Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at approximately 4:20 p.m., the victim was travelling on a transit bus that was north on Keele Street. She was approached by an unknown man who asked to take a picture with her. When the woman refused, the man began yelling at her, making threats and using hate-bias motivated language targeting Muslims and Islam. Investigators have exhausted all leads and are releasing an image of the suspect and seeking public assistance to identify him. Description: Male, white 30 to 37 years 5’9 Heavy build Specially-trained #4 District hate crime investigators have been engaged in this investigation while our central Hate Crime Unit will be monitoring the case as it progresses. York Regional Police will not tolerate hate crime in any form. These kinds of crimes not only hurt the community that has been targeted, but they hurt us all.
