Healing Journey of Cornie Funk

Just wanted to let you all know... Dad is doing GREAT! He has started with some rehab therapy to rebuild strength and mobility. He and mom are doing amazingly well with all the changes, as well as all the isolation. It's hard though - like it is for all of us - so if you have a smartphone or laptop they would love a video call, FaceTime or even a zoom call. They are now pretty proficient in video calling and we've had several "gatherings" online. I know they'd love some face-...to-face calls or even texts and regular phone calls. We are still waiting for further testing to determine Dad's cancer type and next steps of treatment. Although there are directions the doctors are headed, there is nothing confirmed as of yet. Hopefully we'l have more answers within the next two weeks. Mom and Dad say they can feel your prayers and say thank you. And so do my brother and I. It's difficult to not be able to be there with them, but we see that your prayers are keeping them healing and managing. Thank you.

We had a Social Distanced visit this week! Dad is doing very well considering he went into the hospital for an emergency back surgery before the COVID-19 pandemic hit ... and left the hospital to be further isolated at home. What a journey! He's healing nicely. There will be further testing to determine what kind of cancer dad has. But in the mean time we are praying that God heals it all! That they find nothing! Will you join us? (We visited from the deck through their window until it got too cold. Then we moved into the garage and visited from 6' or more away while dad and mom stayed in the house. We are being VERY careful to protect them!)

Dad has found his new favorite spot! Adjusting to life at home post surgery is one thing ... Doing it during COVID-19 social distancing and isolation is another matter entirely. We are so grateful for your continued prayers. Thank you to those who brought food or coffee and kindly left it on the porch. We are asking for NO visitors at this time and although mom and dad really appreciate the gifts of food and coffee - as a family we’ve made the decision not to have mom and ...dad eat it. Mom and Dad have compromised health and need to be extra vigilant. Thank you for all you have done. Your prayers and your encouragement. We all appreciate it. Keep texting dad and mom if you’d like. They enjoy keeping in touch. We are so grateful for all your support. Mom and dad will need your support and continued encouragement as the healing of surgery completes and treatments for the cancer commence (although we have no need of that at this time). Once again. Dad has been discharged to recuperate at home as of tonight. Please no visitors until after you have contacted my mom or dad about coming over. Please do not visit if you are sick or have been around anyone who has been out of the country. We want to keep mom and dad as safe as possible. Also we’d like to ask that visitors remember dad will still need many weeks of rest. Thank you so much for your care and continued support.

Because of all the changes due to the COVID-19 virus, the new hospital restrictions are: Only 1 visitor per person. Do not visit if you have been sick, if you are sick, or if you have been around someone who has been sick. Please refrain from visiting unless you have first messaged me. Please text me at 204-381-9496 and I'll let you know if visiting is a good idea. Or you can call mom or dad if you have their numbers. Please be patient if they don't respond quickly.
