Please support Healing Animal SCARS most special kitty, Helene, who went to the Atlantic Veterinary College in PEI on Nov 3rd for a consultation to hopefully repair her bladder and urethra. She urinates at least a hundred times a day, because her bladder is always full but she has strictures or scar tissue in her urethra that prevents her from fully emptying her bladder. For the past year, she has only been able to pee a few drops at a time. For those who have not yet ha...Continue reading

You must read before bidding, because things are going to be a little different this time. You must send a private message to me, Sonya D Higgins, with your phone number and address, because this time I will not be asking people to pick up their items at my house, I will be delivering them on the weekend. For those who wish to pick up in Eastern Passage, you can still do so from Darlene. I just cannot store things at my house long-term, and history has shown me that many peop...le do not get around to picking up their items, so I would prefer to deliver to get them out of the way right away. Welcome to our Facebook Auction for Healing Animal SCARS. We have many new items so you may want to do a little early Christmas shopping here! If you see an item you would like to purchase, please place a comment on that photo stating the amount you are willing to pay. Bids must be increased in increments of at least $1, meaning no bids of $0.50 Please do not place your bid as a reply to a comment, because other people may not see it. With each bid, you must let me know if you want delivery, or if you will be picking up from Darlene in eastern passage. Bidding will end at 7 p.m. sharp on Thursday, October 8th and I will notify the winners that night or on Friday, when I finished sorting the items. Once I send you your total, you can send me an email money transfer to [email protected] and please use the password kitties Darlene will get all the items at her place on Friday, so people can contact her for pick up the day after the auction ends. I will do delivery of items in the Dartmouth area on Saturday or Sunday. Connie will do deliveries in the Halifax Bedford Sackville area on the weekend as well Thank you for your support, the kitties appreciate it. We currently have 10 cats and kittens available for adoption. Call Sonya at 469-MEOW for details. See more

Bonded pair must be adopted together! Annabel Lee is a feral mother cat who has quite a history. Last Summer, she was trapped as a feral 8 week old kitten and went through the SPCA Foster program. The foster person lost her in the parking lot at Dartmouth Crossing and many people searched for her but she wasn't found. That is, until this May when she was found near the Micmac bar and grill with baby kittens. Her kittens, Edgar, Allan and Poe have all found homes and she was ...depressed when they left. Then a new batch of foster kittens came along, and Mama Annabel Lee really bonded with Gwen. We think it is really important to match up shy cats with a friend who is more confident. If somebody wants to adopt the adorable kitten Gwen, they must take her best friend and supporter, Mama Annabel Lee. Our adoption fee is $250 per cat or kitten. Cats are tested for feline leukaemia and FIV, where is kittens under 6 months are tested for feline leukaemia. They get two or three sets of booster vaccines, so they will be fully protected for a year. They are spayed or neutered, and microchipped for permanent identification. They are treated for any illnesses or injuries they may have, and fully protected against parasites. If you think you can provide the right home for this loving pair, please call Sonya at 902-469-6369 for a pre-screening interview, before emailing [email protected] for an application See more

Mr. Avery Guysborough is available for adoption. He was rescued as an 8 week old feral kitten, and it took him over a month to learn to trust me. Now he is more playful and receptive to affection, however he still has trust issues. He was adopted last week but returned in less than 24 hours. We need to find him the right home with people who are patient and have another cat to keep him company. Our adoption donation is $250, which includes testing for feline leukaemia, all three sets of booster vaccine, neutering and microchip as well as treatment for parasites and any illnesses or injuries. Please call Sonya at 902-469-6369 for a pre-screening interview, before emailing [email protected] for an application

We could always use donations of chicken or beef baby food, and delectable squeeze UPS. We need these for sick kitties who won't eat, and for shy kitties to gain their trust. Walmart has the best prices on these items, so if you happen to be shopping there in the next little while, please consider picking up some treats and donating them to the kitties. We could also always use cans of tuna and sardines for trapping.

This auction is different! Pickup will not be at my house, but you can pick up from Karen Algee Buote in Cole Harbour or from Darlene in eastern passage. If your total is at least $10 and you live within reasonable distance in HRM, Connie Uhlman is offering delivery. If you want delivery, you must send me a message with your address and phone number when you place your bid, and you would have to pay in advance with an email money transfer when the auction ends and I send you your total.

Healing Animal Scars 01.08.2020

This auction is a little different, because pick up is not available from Sonya , but you can pick up from Karen in Cole Harbour or you can still pick up from Darlene in eastern passage. If you want delivery within HRM, please let us know when you bid. Welcome to Healing Animal SCARS!!! We are a local cat rescue group located in Cole Harbour NS. Our mandate is to work with homeless, abandoned and feral cats in HRM. We do not have a shelter but are a network of dedicated an...imal lovers who give our time to trap/rescue and provide foster homes to cats and kittens. Most of the cats and kittens who arrive at Healing Animal SCARS have medical needs to be attended to. Some are minor as small scraps/cuts, ticks and fleas. Others injuries are due to traumatic circumstances and require surgery and immediate emergency care. We do not receive ANY government funding and rely heavily on donations (and often our own pockets) to ensure each and every cat/kitten who comes into our rescue receives all the care they need until they are ready for adoption. With Covid 19 causing our regular fundraisers to come to a screaming halt, we have had to look to other ways to raise money for our rescue. We are hoping you will see something you just have to have in our auction. Please bid generously . We sincerely need your support to continue saving the lives of cats and kittens in HRM. If you are having difficulty placing a bid, please add me (Karen Algee Buote) as a friend on Facebook. Sometimes FB is funny and for some, the only way to bid if if we are FB friends. Please note that there may be a minimum bid on the item before placing your bid. Bids will increase in whole $1.00 increments (not by 0.25, 0.50, etc). After each bid please indicate which location you would prefer to pick up at (EP or CH) if you are the lucky winner. Pick up locations will be at Darlene Fudge’s home in Eastern Passage or at Karen Buote’s home in Cole Harbour. If your winning bid is a min of $10.00 we may be able to deliver within HRM if you do not have transportation. Pick up MUST be arranged by September 13 or items remaining will be put into our next auction. No exceptions! All payments may be made by EMT to [email protected] or by cash (exact change please) when you pick up your items.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will be on Hiatus and unable to take any new cats or kittens in the near future. Don't worry, we are just on hold and we will be back in full swing in the new year

Don't forget, the auction ends tonight at 7 p.m.! Place a last-minute bid to purchase a treasure and help the kitties at the same time

Please bid and share https://www.facebook.com/katsonya/media_set Healing Animal SCARS is finally holding a Facebook auction for the first time since Covid-19 hit! We currently have 16 kittens and 4 adult cats that we are getting ready for adoption. Our vet bills keep going up, and our bank account is nearly depleted. Many people have donated gently used and new items that can be used for a future Facebook auction.... People can bid on the photos of the items, and you must add me as a Facebook friend if you wish to bid , so that I will be easily able to contact you. Please do not bid unless you can commit to picking up within 2 weeks of the auction ending. We have several people who have not picked up from previous auctions in the past year, which is very frustrating. For payment, you can pay with an email money transfer - send EMT to [email protected] or bring cash. Please bring the correct amount if you are picking up from Darlene, as she may not be able to make change. My home in Cole Harbour and Darlene's place in Eastern Passage will be the only pickup locations available this time around. I am not asking our normal pickup locations in other areas to help us this time. If your total is at least $10, we can arrange delivery within reason thanks to Connie. Items will have a minimum bid, and bids should be increased in $1 increments ( for example, don't bid $4.50). Several items have additional photos in the comments beneath them, to better show the item or items included You must State your preferred pickup location with each bid. Some people only state the pickup location on the first item they bid on, but they may not end up being the successful bidder on that item. That's why I need you to say it on each item that you bid on, so that when I am sorting items at the end, I know what your preferred pickup location is, or whether you want Connie to deliver it to you. If you prefer delivery, you must send me a private message before the auction ends with your address and phone number. The auction will end on Friday, July 24th at 7pm. That evening, I will go through the album and notify bidders. Later that night or the next morning, I will send each successful bidder an email through Facebook letting them know their total. Along with the items you purchase in the auction, please consider purchasing some of our signature healing animal scars catnip toys to entertain your kitty! Thank you for your support

Announcement: Adoption rate increase. Ever since covid-19 began, it has been increasingly difficult to schedule appointments at veterinary clinics and to conduct adoptions through Healing Animal SCARS - Sonya's Cat & Animal Rescue Society. Our normal protocol has always been to get kittens tested for feline leukaemia and their first vaccines at eight weeks of age, and then between 9 and 10 weeks of age we get them spayed and neutered prior to adoption. I personally follow... up with each and every adopter to ensure that their kittens come back for their second and third booster vaccine. Despite our policy of spaying and neutering every cat before it goes to a home, we made an exception this spring, and we adopted 17 kittens that were not yet spayed and neutered. I have been working with our veterinary clinics to ensure the kittens can come back to be spayed and neutered as soon as possible. In the past week, we have had to reschedule a number of appointments at the adopters request. This is becoming increasingly difficult to coordinate with the veterinarian and adopters because of scheduling restrictions. It has become abundantly clear that we need to change our policy back to ensuring all cats are spayed and neutered prior to being adopted. This means that we will have to keep the current 16 kittens a little longer. It also means that our costs will increase again, because we feed them a expensive high-quality Veterinary food, and eat kitten goes through at least a can and a half a day, plus dry food. Effective immediately the cost to adopt a cat or kitten from Healing Animal Scars - Sonya's Cat & Animal Rescue Society will be $250 We have 16 kittens and 4 special needs adult cats in our rescue right now. At this time, we only have one male kitten who has been neutered and will soon be ready for adoption. Greasy Gustavo needs a home with another cat to keep him company. He is very affectionate with his foster family, but he is a little bit shy of new people and nervous in new situations. Needs a home with somebody who has plenty of patience and will shower him with TLC to make him feel comfortable in his new environment. Please do not inquire about adoption unless you have another cat and a good vet reference. We have literally had hundreds of people inquiring about adoption in the past month or so, and I don't have time to review every phone message and Facebook message. So I am announcing now that if you are interested in applying to adopt him, you must first call me at 902-469-6369 for a pre-screening interview, and then you can fill out an application by emailing [email protected] You must bring him back to our vet for his second and third booster vaccines. Once an appointment is scheduled, unless it is a dire emergency, it cannot be rescheduled
