You are worthy. You deserve your own tender loving self care. You have the right to carve out time for your own tending. It’s hard. Knowing and labelling the barriers we face in receiving our own care can be helpful. This work is worth it.

From @sistercody: "I am allowed to have boundaries and not feel guilty about them. I am allowed to make decisions that are best for my personal growth and wellb...eing. This is a lesson that I have had to learn again and again, and am still learning. I have always just said yes to everyone because I thought that’s what love would do. And I would feel so guilty saying no to anyone. So I would say yes to everything, but grew tired and bitter inside. And over time I stopped giving from my heart and started giving because I thought that’s what 'I should do', and I could tell it felt wrong. It was the opposite of why I should be giving and I felt myself crashing hard. So many times I said yes where I should have just said 'hey, I love you so much but I have to take care of me right now.' And I am still learning this. I am learning how healthy it is to have boundaries. How boundaries are an act of self love. How boundaries help growth and healing. How being protective of my energy isn’t something I should ever feel bad about. And how all of this can be expressed in a loving way. So do not feel bad about having boundaries and doing what’s best for you. Realize that everything has and requires energy. You are allowed to be protective of your energy. You are allowed to say no. You are allowed to ask for space. You are allowed to hang out with people who make you feel good. You are allowed to stop with people who make you feel bad. You are allowed to follow and not follow whoever you want on this platform based on what’s best for YOU. You are allowed to do what’s best for your wellbeing whatever that looks like and not feel bad about it. Having boundaries and taking care of yourself is what self love is all about. You deserve it!!!! I write this to myself always" . . [image description: drawing on a white textured background of a person with brown skin and long dark braids. A swirl of rainbow colors also paints their white shirt. Written next to them in black is, "I AM ALLOWED TO HAVE BOUNDARIES AND NOT FEEL BAD."]

The anxiety of feeling like there’s a right choice and a wrong choice and I’d better choose correctly OR ELSEvs the freedom of knowing most of life isn’t so bl...ack and white, so either/or. Bonus revelation: most decisions are reversible anyway, so if you took the wrong path, you can double back and try again. See more

It’s okay to interview your therapist! It’s impossible for every therapist to be a good fit for every client. This is a helpful resource that may serve to guide you in finding a therapist that aligns with your goals, identities, preferences and accessibility needs.
