We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Captain Kevin Mayo. Kevin was a long time volunteer on the Foundation's Curl For A Cause Committee and helped raise thousands of dollars for Fishermen's Memorial Hospital. He made our community better. If you ever attended a Curl For A Cause weekend, you best believe he had a scallop draw ticket in your hand before you had a chance to say yes. Kevin's kind smile, boastful laugh and to-the-point logic will be missed. ... https://www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca//Mayo-Capt-Kevi/index.php
This is indeed a #FeelGoodFriday Dr. Harris was honoured to recently be named a Champion of Care for the wonderful and attentive care he provided in the ER at South Shore Regional Hospital. We are so thankful to have such talented and caring doctors here, serving our friends and neighbours. Nova Scotia Health
RN Adriana Pack is our latest Champion of Care! Her amazing care brought peace to our donor, who found himself recovering from two surgeries on the Medical/Surgical Unit at South Shore Regional Hospital. I wasnt expecting to be in this situation but Adrianas care and compassion made things better. She never made me feel like a burden. Shes a credit to her profession and her generation. Way to go, Adriana! Nova Scotia Health
Alright folks, the September 2020 access clinic schedule is here. Please note you have to call ahead to book an appointment for the clinic at the Bridgewater Medical Arts Building. Feel free to share with those who should know :)
Her eyes are smiling Congratulations to Kayla Brewster for being named a Champion of Care! Kayla works in the Maternal/Child Clinic at South Shore Regional Hospital (Nova Scotia Health) and the care she provided inspired someone to make a donation to the hospital in her name. Thank you for the amazing care you provide to all of us on the South Shore, Kayla! We appreciate you!
COVID-19 has forced us all to get a bit creative. And for these grandchildren who couldnt get in to visit their Bampa at South Shore Regional last month, they were still able to show their love
This is for someone coming to work at Soith Shore Regional. Feel free to share or if you know of a space please message NOW Lunenburg County
We miss seeing our supporters in the office. Tell us, what has been your favourite part of this summer? We miss seeing our supporters in the office. Tell us, what has been your favourite part of this summer?
Who could use some good news on a Monday? 2020 has thrown a curveball at everything, including construction taking place in hospitals around the province. Recently we got a sneak peak into the renos of the 3 new duty rooms and doctor lounge area at South Shore Regional Hospital (Nova Scotia Health). This project, jointly funded by the Health Services Foundation & South Shore Regional Hospital Auxiliary, supports recruitment and retention of physicians to our area, as well as in support of Dalhousie Universitys LIC medical students who join our hospital teams
Events - remember those?? They are not a thing of the past. We all just need to get a bit creative! The Health Services Foundation of the South Shore, its partners and volunteers are working out new ways to bring you our much-anticipated Women's Giving Circle, Gift From The Heart Radiothon & West Nova Fuels Curl for a Cause, in our "new normal". We can't wait to share the details with you soon. Thank you for all for supporting your local hospitals in our ever-changing world <3
So excited and proud to have Dalhousie LIC medical students joining our South Shore hospital teams!
We LOVE receiving notes with donations about how awesome our South Shore medical teams are. This just came in from a donor who received care at South Shore Regional in May: "This donation is in appreciation of the great nursing care I received in the SSRH in May 2020. They all were a great team and worked so well together. Best wishes, MH"
The Health Services Foundation of the South Shore's partnership with NOW Lunenburg County for physician recruitment is still going strong! Thank you for putting together this wonderful welcome basket for a prospective doctor. <3
The August 2020 Access Clinic schedule is here. The clinic is still being held at the Medical Arts building. Please remember to call ahead as these are now pre-appointments only. Share with all who should see it <3

Heads up everyone. Stay safe
RNs Kristin Yeaton and Megan Bustin are natural product models, showing us the new privacy screens and two of the new stethoscopes at Fishermen's Memorial Hospital (Nova Scotia Health Authority), made possible by donors to the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore Front Line Fund. Staff needed more of these essential pieces to ensure the equipment was kept to as few patients as possible during COVID-19. We are constantly reminded that protecting our community from COVID-19 isn't a sprint, it's going to be a marathon. Stay safe and thank you for your generosity! <3
This #FeelGoodFriday post is brought to you by the generous donors to the Health Services Foundation of the South Shore's Front Line Fund. These RNs are proudly showing off the new OR Transport Stretcher purchased in response to COVID-19. While a "simple" piece of equipment, it makes moving patients through departments and/or to procedures at South Shore Regional Hospital possible and safe! These were also purchased for Fishermen's Memorial Hospital as well! Thank you <3... Nova Scotia Health Authority See more
An update on the total of the Health Services Foundation's COVID-19 Front Line Fund as of July 7, 2020. This fund purchased COVID-19 response equipment at South Shore Regional & Fishermen's Memorial hospitals. Nova Scotia Health Authority
To strengthen our community, we all must work together. We are proud to partner with NOW Lunenburg County and work with the Nova Scotia Health Authority physician recruiter team to help show doctors the benefits of living and practicing in Lunenburg County!
Our new memorial cards are in! These are sent out to family and friends when a memorial donation is made to the @healthservicesfoundation (try to have the address with you )
You can check out this year's annual report online!
The July access clinic's schedule has changed a bit. Here is the most up to date schedule as of June 30th.
It takes a community to recruit a doctor. It also takes a community to welcome a doctor! The Health Services Foundation of the South Shore filled the fridge of Dr. Bebbington & Dr. MacDonald to welcome them to their new home. Plus a few beach goodies for their kids and a special gift from NOW Lunenburg County. Welcome to the South Shore - we are so happy you chose to practice here! **pictured is Dr. Bebbington. Dr. MacDonald is already working clinic!**... Nova Scotia Health Authority See more
Dove, through Fishermen's Memorial Hospital's food supplier GFS, donated soap bars to all FMH employees working during the COVID-19. This is part of their Courage is Beautiful campaign. From Dove: "Thank you for all your hard work in this pandemic, treating and keeping safe the most vulnerable in our society." It put a squeaky-clean smile on the team's faces. Nova Scotia Health Authority
Congratulations to the class of 2020! This year's class at Park View Education Centre holds a special place in the hearts of the Foundation Team as Elsa Nauss (ED Arleen Steven's daughter) & Hayden McCarthy (Financial Whiz Danielle McCarthy's son) close the chapter on their high school years! We can't wait to see what the future holds for you both <3
