In relationships we can learn to accept the influence of our partner. We can explore understanding, importance, and commonality to better understand ourselves and our partner to come to a more equal and shared view of a concern or situation at hand. #gottman #couplestherapy #relationship #couples #werehereforyou #therapy #counselling #informyourself #healthcounselling #mentalhealth #counselling #therapistsoftinstagram #mentalhealthisimportant #mentalhealthsupport

Research has found that people who look for good often find what is good, and people who look for negative often find negative. Much like love can make us see through rose coloured glasses, we can put on glasses for the positives and negatives in life. If we begin to tell ourselves, today is a good day; we will begin to find reasons to support this. How do you set yourself up for a good day?... #positivethinking #outlook #optimist #werehereforyou #therapy #counselling #informyourself #healthcounselling #mentalhealthtips #counsellinggoals #therapytips
To some of us, tension and uncertainty have been themes of this month; in other ways, it’s been about resilience, calm and patience. We've hit the mid-month mark. Here are three check-in questions to help support you as we move into the next half of November. 1. What two things must happen - in the coming week - to help you feel more satisfied with how you’re living?... 2. What indicators do you notice - in your thoughts, feelings and physical sensations - about what you need, right now? 3. Which of your needs (e.g. sleep, tv time, exercise, together time/alone time, reading sessions) requires attention, first? #selfcaretips #makingitwork #mentalhealthtips #lifegoals
Here are a few stories about mastery, growth and care. Knitting gave me something for my hands to do to save anxiously picking apart my hands. Knitting allowed my hands to be busy when my mind couldn’t think. Developing these skills allowed me to then share something special with the people who help my mental health. Picture of my goose who will one day call me Aunt Coco, we’re working on it, with a blanket I made special for her - Corrie... For me, sketching is not only a practice of mastery, but also one of mindfulness. Although it has taken a lot of practice, it has been an activity of growth and enjoyment while allowing me to feel fully present in a moment. - Erinn I had the privilege of taking singing lessons with Sarah at Van Goozen Music for about a year. The greatest lesson I learned was that the only way to truly improve was from slow and steady practice. Singing involves building lung capacity and core muscles; it required working at the body’s pace. The same goes for effort to improve our mental growth: we need to take it slow, steady and work at the pace that’s right for us. - Kathleen
