How often do you go through the day without taking a single sip of water? Or run so busy with work and errands that you forget to eat? Or click away at the keyboard for 7 hours straight, ending the day in wonder about the sore neck, back and wrists? As creatures of habit, it is easy for us to get lost in the daily routines. Bringing yourself back into consciousness will allow you to recognize the little things that can be done to reestablish health. Check in with yoursel...f through the day: How am I feeling? What do I need in this moment? Where am I holding the stress? Give yourself a generous mental ‘THANK YOU’ after every accomplished task. Incorporate balanced and nutritious meals and snacks. Sip on water. Stretch, stretch, stretch! Maintain a healthy curiosity towards others, and towards yourself (like those pesky cravings that won’t leave you alone). #healthannex #torontohealth #alternativemedicine #annextoronto #torontonaturopath #torontomentalhealth #healthandwellness #mindfulness #consciousliving #healthylifestyle #healthyliving #mindovermatter #torontotherapy #torontond #naturalmedicine #inspiration

Ever feel like you’re on the verge of mental collapse? Because I surely do! From managing simple daily tasks like meal prep, clean-up and making the bed, to overbooking my weekly calendar with appointments, meetings, catching up with friends, dinners with family. Gym? Not today. Coffee instead, maybe 2... 3? Grabbing fast food just to survive the minute. We’ve all been there. The struggle is real and it is not a surprise to realize that you’re stressed. There is only so mu...ch external input our brain can handle. Over stimulation can lead to symptoms of anxiety - muscle tension, increased heart rate, shallow breathing, agitation and insomnia - your body’s innate voice crying out to stop, to relax, take in a deep breath, and remain calm while you simplify your life . Limit the exposure to external stimuli by putting away that phone. Remember, just because you technically are able to fit something in your schedule it doesn’t mean that it is psychologically optimal. Take a moment to relax at work. Make a reflective pause once you’ve accomplished a task. Give your brain a chance to recover before moving on with the next point on that to-do list. At the end of the day ask yourself: 1. What is it that I’m worried or concerned about? 2. How does it affect me - both physically and mentally? 3. Is there a different approach to the situation? 4. What did I learn from this experience? #selfcare #optimalhealth #rest #mentalhealth #healthylifestyle #naturopathicmedicine #psychotherapy #massagetherapist #destress #detox #livelonger #livehappier #clinic #healthandwellness #alternativemedicine #functionalmedicine
