Just a little update from the staff here at HCP: - We have extended our hours from what they've been the past month. We are now open Monday-Friday 9am-7pm, and Saturdays 9am-2pm. - We are still offering free deliveries, and still offering 0 contact in-store pick-up. Please keep your 2m distance from others if you are in the waiting area at the same time as someone else. - Every day we are thankful for the entire staff at STEGH, all medical professionals in our community, and all frontline workers in all settings. We appreciate you! - We hope everyone is keeping well & holding up during this time!

Today we celebrate International Nurses Day! Thank you today, and every day, for everything that you do. "To do what nobody else will do, a way that nobody else can do, in spite of all we go through, is to be a nurse"

We are taking proactive steps to ensure everyone receives their medications. As per the Ontario government’s mandate, we will only be dispensing medications for a 30-day supply. This measure is being enacted to maintain an adequate drug supply for all Canadians. Please continue to phone in your prescription refills, use our delivery service, and practice social distancing in the pharmacy.... Thank you for your understanding! Stay healthy and safe!

APPRECIATION POST! I want to take the time to give a big shout out to all of our staff who have worked so hard this past week to serve our community to the best of our abilities in our little corner of the world. Now more than ever, each staff member is playing an important role in this time of uncertainty and everyone has stepped up to the challenge. ... Thank you HCP staff for all that you do. We are in this together.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: For the time being, we are reducing the hours we are open to the public & answering phones: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (edit) Saturday: 9am-1pm (edit)... We are still trying to deliver out as many prescriptions as possible instead of having people come into the store. We need the extra time to disinfect the store and get caught up on processing prescriptions. We will not be closing the pharmacy. We will remain open. We do need to respect social distancing and keep our pharmacy staff healthy so they can continue to serve you and your family. Our top priority is the health of our clients and community. Our voicemail is always on and we will return calls as we are able. Thank you for your understanding and we hope everyone is keeping well.

At this stage of the COVID-19 outbreak, you have seen the recommendations and you’ve read the advice from health officials: Washing your hands for at least 20 s...econds with soap and water is one of the best ways to prevent you and the community from getting sick. It’s often recommended that you hum the Happy Birthday song from beginning to end TWICE if you want to time it, but what if you're tired of singing that tune? Check this out: a website that lets you pair hand-washing techniques with your favourite tunes! GO WASH YOUR HANDS and hum your own customized tune: https://washyourlyrics.com/

One of the biggest hurdles for anyone suffering from mental illness is overcoming the stigma attached to it. The annual Bell Let’s Talk awareness campaign is driving the national conversation to help promote awareness and understanding. Two out of three people suffer in silence, fearing judgement and rejection. Being open to a conversation is the first step towards eliminating the stigma. Know the facts, be kind, be a good listener and a friend. Be part of the conversation to eliminate the stigma once and for all. #BellLetsTalk

November is Epilepsy awareness month. Epilepsy is capable of affecting anyone with a brain. Each year. 150,000 people are diagnosed with epilepsy. Having knowledge of knowing how to assess and deal with someone who is having a seizure is something epilepsy awareness month strives to instill in everyone. Seizure first aid is simple Three Ss: Stay, Safe, Side.... 1. STAY with the person and start timing the seizure. Remain calm and check for medical ID. 2. Keep the person SAFE. Move or guide away from harmful objects. 3. Turn the person onto their SIDE if they are not awake and aware. Don’t block airway, put something small and soft under the head, loosen tight clothes around neck. 4. Do NOT put anything in their mouth. Don’t give water, pills or food until the person is awake. 5. Do NOT restrain. 6. STAY with them until they are awake and alert after the seizure. Most seizures end in a few minutes.
