Today I checked in a friend of mine who is working as a nurse in the COVID-19 positive unit at an old age care home. As to be expected she and her coworkers are exhausted emotionally and physically carrying a burden that is too big for just them and yet everyday, like so many, they show up for us. I asked her what I can I do, feeling a little useless, and she said the thing that brought us so much joy was to receive hearts and messages from from the people in their community. It gave them energy to know they are appreciated and thought of. This does seem like enough to me but of course, we sent our love and appreciation today. For all of the front line workers selflessly going in to work everyday for us, thank you. We see you. We hear you. We love you. We will stay home until it is deemed safe for you.

Happy Earth Day! . By thinking about the planet in our daily actions we can make everyday earth day. . While staying home has been great for our planets air quality, water sources and forests, many of us have taken a step backwards in other regards.... . Our plastics usage has taken an upward turn as we are banned from bringing cloth bags with us into stores. Consider declining the plastic bags and putting your groceries back in the cart. Keep your reusable bags in the car and unpack your cart directly into your bags or a box. . Please don’t throw gloves and masks on the ground after use. Find a garbage can or keep a bag with you to keep the soiled materials in until they can be thrown away. . Remember that many of the powerful cleaning products that kill viruses are also bad for your health and the environment. Consider limiting your usage of these to times when it is absolutely necessary and use clean products for day to day regular usage. . Try to choose organic and non-gmo foods as much as possible. These support the earth and your health. . Consider replacing lawn with an eco friendly ground cover such as clover which requires less maintenance and minimal watering. . Support the pollinators.
