Is self care on your To Do list? Here are 6 ways to help prevent breast cancer and take care of your body’s needs. 1. Take care of yourself first; only then can you care for others well and without resentment. Be mindful of your body, your emotions, your spirit. Tend to them, listen to them. Pursue your dreams wherever possible. Be you. 2. Nourish your body with fresh, colourful, high fibre foods, raw whenever possible. The fibre from vegetables, fruit, nuts and seeds as...sists in estrogens removal from your digestive tract. Avoid excessive amounts of sugar, fat, alcohol and caffeine as these can lower your immune system function. 3. Exercise strenuously even if it is only for brief minutes in your day. Lean muscle mass does not generate estrogen like fatty tissue. Studies show that 3-4 hours per week of exercise decrease your risk of breast cancer by 50%. Any and all exercise (and this includes walking) is helpful to balance hormones and detoxify your body. If you add 3-5 minutes of strenuous activity per day with your longer, slower exercise it can make a big difference to your fitness level. Google HIIT exercise for more information. 4. Limit your exposure to artificial estrogens (list below). This can include so many things because our world is saturated with them, so start off small and gradually clean up your personal world, don’t worry about doing it all at once. a. From breakfast to supper, it is important to put good food into your body! What’s also important is what comes out, so we asked our Colon Hydrotherapist what she feeds her family Here’s some meals this week that made us drool: home made sausage with eggs and avocado for brunch, then salmon with asparagus and hollandaise sauce for supper. Asparagus has fiber that the gut microbes feed off of and the omega 3 in the salmon help create healthy membranes around your blood cells,... as well as to help fight inflammation, among other things. Try these recipes this weekend and post your pic below Basic Hollandaise Sauce 5oz butter 2 Tbsp water 4 egg yolks 1 Tbsp lemon juice Pink sea salt and pepper Melt the butter. Combine the water and egg yolks in a saucepan on low heat. Whisk continuously, until pale and creamy. Once thick and foamy, remove from heat. If it gets too hot the sauce will turn to scrambled eggs. Add the cooled butter and continue to whisk while adding the lemon juice, pink sea salt and pepper. Breakfast Sausage Patties 2 lbs ground pork 2 Tbsp maple syrup 1.5 tsp pink sea salt .5 tsp pepper 1 tsp garlic granules tsp dried thyme tsp dried sage Mix all ingredients together. Best to mix by hand or paddle attachment with a stand mixer. Shape into patties. Fry in a pan or bake in the oven until the internal temperature is 160 f. Can be made ahead and frozen.
