A few more pics of our search at Otter Falls from yesterday. The current was strong but not unmanageable.

HEART is heading to Otter Falls MB to assist in the search for Danny LeMay. It is presumed that he went through the ice on the Winning River with his snowmobile last month. Please pray for all involved in the search and especially for Danny’s family. Update: We searched at the suspected entry point with the ROV but couldn’t locate the victim or snowmobile. When the ice recedes further and we can get our boat on the water we’ll resume the search with a towed sidescan sonar.

Still thinking of our friends the Hamm family in Weyakwin Lake, SK. Praying every day for Matthew to be found. Vast search areas are a real challenge.

On March 20, 2021, the Hutterian Emergency Aquatic Response Team (HEART), along with family members, attended to the Winnipeg River and retrieved the body of th...e 42-year-old male who drowned after his ATV went through the ice while attempting to cross the river on March 18. The RCMP works in close partnership with HEART and would like to thank them for their commitment to the family and our community.

Heading home after a busy week. We’re so blessed to have been able to serve the Hamm family at Weyakwin Lake searching for Matthew. The time we spent with you was very special. We pray for a resolution soon and may Our Lord grant you peace.

We’re thankful for the beautiful conditions God gave us for our work today.

You can help cover costs for HEART to go on recovery missions. Expenses are very high but we never charge families for our services. We rely completely on donations from Hutterite colonies and caring individuals like you.

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. The conditions here are not suitable for running side scan sonar at this point. We are able to map the bottom with Garmin Conture recording though. This is valuable for later when the wind and waves settle down and we'll be able to work. Patience patience. The Lord's timing is never bad.

Heavenly Father, we pray for your presence and protection as we travel to Weyakwin Lake, SK. We rely solely on you as we serve the Hamm family there with this ministry. May your love for them be made obvious as they suffer this unimaginable loss of their dear son Matthew. Have mercy on them in this dark hour and hear our prayers so that his earthly body may be found and healing may begin. In the precious name of Jesus we pray. Amen.

When running SideScan sonar we understand the importance of accurate and consistent coverage of a search area. Driving straight lines is hard to do while concentrating on sonar imagery. We are really excited to announce that Trimble Inc. and Vantage Canada are partnering with us with their world class GFX-750 display and NAV-900 guidance controller with AutoPilot Motor Drive using CentrePoint RTX signal for accuracy. Who knew that this technology, primarily used in agricul...ture could be utilized on a SAR boat?!! A huge Thank-You to Sheldon Simoens and Roy Wood! Your passion and drive to see this project through is truly inspiring! What an amazing encouragement to have you come along and support us this way! God bless you! HEART Side Scan sonar coverage on our last mission in Bittern Lake, Saskatchewan. Using Marine Sonic Technology’s MK II ArcExplorer Tow Fish and SeaScan Survey software. On the Navigation Plotter green is Starboard and red is Port. This type of search pattern is called Parallel Search or otherwise known as Mowing The Lawn. ... Straight swaths insure for consistent coverage and the sonar image optimal quality and minimizes stretching. Each swath is 140ft wide with the Tow Fish 7ft off the bottom giving us the best sonar beam angle and a good chance of recognizing shadows and/or our target. Overlap is approximately 55% to guarantee at least 2 looks from different directions. Interesting anomalies are gps marked and rechecked by circling around for another look. Notice when we find what we were looking for. In this case the target was a drowning victim. See more
