It's been about 3 months since residents moved in to our new Clover Bar Lodge, and we're really enjoying the new space! Here are a few pics of our recreation programming, our St. Patrick's Day Happy Hour, and our "1 Year of COVID" memory board. If you or a loved one would like to learn more about the homelike atmosphere Clover Bar Lodge offers for independent seniors, you can visit our website at https://www.heartlandhousing.ca//seniors-/clover-bar-lodge

"La vie est faite de petits bonheurs." (Life is full of little pleasures.") Residents at Silver Birch enjoyed a "Vive la France" themed Valentines meal on Friday, complete with French cuisine, themed decor and some very chic staff costumes!

2020 was certainly an unprecedented year in many ways, but one way we'd like to highlight now is the unprecedented kindness shown by our community to the Residents of our lodges. Just before the holidays, Ann and Len from Park Lane Plumbing made a generous donation to our Sherwood Park lodges, with the stipulation that the gift "brought some cheer." We used Ann and Len's gift to purchase some noise cancelling headphones and a user-friendly CD player to support Residents in virtual visits with their families and enjoying audiobooks. Thank you to Ann and Len for your generosity!

In recognition of Remembrance Day, Silver Birch Lodge resident Emerald Schoepp created two quilts that will be donated to the Quilts of Valour campaign and will comfort injured military members in their time of need. Also pictured is veteran (and Heartland Housing Foundation bus driver) Mike Berridge, who initiated Silver Birch Place’s donation to Quilts of Valour. You can learn more about Quilts of Valour here: https://www.quiltsofvalour.ca/ Thank you to Emerald for lending her considerable talent to such a worthy cause.

Did you know that 14 per cent of Strathcona County residents are spending 30 per cent or more of their income on housing costs? We are at a crucial juncture in the ongoing affordability crisis, and we know that our community will be compassionate and innovative in its response. https://www.sherwoodparknews.com//ardn-report-solidifies-l

Residents and staff at our Dr. Turner Lodge enjoyed some spooky treats and fun costumes for Halloween this past weekend. Can you guess what Recreation Coordinator Alexandrea's "punny" costume is?

When Ruth was born, the tallest man-made structure on earth was the Eiffel Tower! Staff and Residents at Clover Bar Lodge celebrated Ruth's 100th birthday last week. Her very special day included a vintage car parade, a custom cake, and a personal visit by some of Strathcona County's firefighters! You can tell by her beautiful smile that Ruth enjoyed her day. Happy Birthday, Ruth!
