While the committee have several projects in the works to help market Kensington and Area as a destination, we are proud to be checking off one item from our plan - 'Pole Banner' project. ... The committee has been focused on enhancing and beautifying the area with signage tying in many elements that make up Kensington and Area (Woop! Woop! Hogg Trail re-launch). Supporting local has grown to become a social movement over the last 8+ weeks, especially in PEI. You can just FEEL IT. At every turn, every conversation, people are thinking about ways they can support local, more. As we enter our local tourism season, let's consider a few ways to help support the economy on our little island. :) Consider how you cancel: If you can no longer fulfill your booking due to health reasons, by all means, cancel, however rather than ask for a re...fund, think of it as a donation to supporting a local business. Order take-out: Eat local first, most restaurants are open now, and if they aren't, most are getting ready to open. Many now offer online ordering, helping to meet the needs of fast pick-up! Don't forget to tip!: Every little bit counts! Many have transitioned to limited hours along with limited seating, where you can, share some love. Support your local food system: It's not just local restaurants, local farms are seeking innovative ways to get their product out. Do something different and sign-up for a local farm share box! You will likely never go back to grocery shipped produce. Shop Safely: Many businesses have expanded to an online shopping model making it incredibly easy for their customers to buy their product, saving you the drive and time. Get to know your local vendors and order from them! Buy Gifts Local: There are so many island artisans, with SO many nice products for you to share with friends and family. The next gift you purchase, make it a locally made gift. Amplify your support: At the end of the day though, it will cost you nothing but gain you a lot of confidence, pride, and appreciation for sharing your shop local support efforts on social media.
