Dear friends and supporters of our ministry, I want to share with you the events of the past few days, on Thursday morning around 6:20 am I suffered a heart attack and was taken to hospital by ambulance where a stent was placed in my heart where a 100% blockage had occurred. Throughout the entire incident "My heavenly Father was watching over me" So many things were in perfect alignment, the ambulance arrived within 5 minutes of the 911 call, the cardiac team were waiting for me when I arrived and 13 minutes later I was in the cath lab being treated. I arrived home from hospital at 11:00 am Saturday and am resting but also able to move around and go up and down stairs. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. God bless you all! It’s one of my favourite quotes. It describes the kind of dogged determination that can’t be stopped by opposition and won’t be stopped by tiredness or time. It...’s by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward. Dr. King’s inspirational quote really defines the resiliency that is carrying the church through these challenging COVID-19 times. The rules and restrictions that have characterized the different stages of our community response to this pandemic have stretched us and tested us, but they haven’t stopped us from moving forward. When the rules require hand sanitizer, we slather it on and lift our hands to God in praise and to people in prayer. When restrictions limit our freedom to sing, we read the Psalms together and lift our voices in thanksgiving and praise until we break through into the presence of God. When ministry in the community means a mask, we sing a little harder, preach a little louder and smile at people with our eyes. And when spiking cases shut our doors for a while, we go online (and if we have to, we’ll tie two cans together with a long string), but we won’t stop praising God, preaching the Word of God and loving people. You really can’t beat Christians when we’re instructed to go home, shut the door and stay inside, we go one step further, all the way to Matthew 6:6, and go right on into our prayer closet, shut the door and pray to our Father which sees in secret and rewards openly. If you can’t go see your friends and family, go pray for them. If you can’t travel to some exotic vacation locale, you can pick a nation and pray for them. Covid may keep you from travelling to a foreign country, but it can’t keep you from praying for a foreign missionary. If we can’t fly to the world, we can get there on our knees. No, you really can’t beat Christians, because we’ve got a secret source of power. When we’ve flown until our wings are worn out and walked until our feet are sore, we get down on our knees and crawl into the presence of the Lord and, in His presence our strength is renewed. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
