Postural control across the life span. It amazes me how many similarities there are between children with sensory and motor challenges and older adults; muscle stiffness, multiple sensory challenges, altered cognitive resources. Years ago we used to use big suction cups with dowels as a stable point for children with fluctuating tone to hold. This supported stability of the upper extremity and trunk. This week in clinic I used Squigz on the mirror in the same way!

Well this is interesting. But as I learn about rhythm, I wonder about feeling the beat at the cerebellar level (as with Parkisnons' clients and movement and gait training with clients with CP) vs beat competency = cognitively anticipating and creating the beat and sequencing as in children with bilateral integration and sequencing challenges and ideation/motor planning challenges.
