I was at a red light today and saw this bumper sticker and just had to snap a photo because it made me think of birth. You WILL poop as your baby begins descending, this is to create space and the urges will come. I will likely ask you to go try to poop while I'm supporting you in birth because when you sit on the toilet your body natural has the feeling to let go. Labouring on the toilet is a favorite birthing position!... When I figure out how to upload my own birth video, you may hear my four year old in the background asking the midwife, "excuse me, why is there poop in the bath?" How to Tell Your Doula is On Call! As it is nearing the end of a pregnancy and I know I'm in the on-call period there are a couple things that help me be my best for you! My clothes for birth attending (the awesome gifted t-shirt "Let's Doula This" and loose fitting pants,socks and undies and my favorite sport bra) are laid out beside my bed for those middle of the night phone calls. ... My @thirtyone roller bag filled with all the Doula Tools, snacks and supplies I'll need to be away from home for an undetermined amount of time sits by the back door ready to grab on my way out. ( Check out an older Post where I talked about what's in the bag!) And..... I always ensure my gas tank is full..... And when I say this I mean my car's gas tank and my own "personal gas tank" which looks like -getting as much sleep as possible -staying well hydrated -taking my #YGYi supplements and -eating really nourishing whole foods! I picked up copies of @eldykasimpson new book at @rippleeffectwellness_st.albert yesterday. I love the mantra she has written to me on the inside of the front cover, "you are strong, soft and always enough" Remember those words, feel them to your core. Search for your identity and where you belong and know the collective holds you up.
