Our mandated time off due to Covid-19 has been extended to May 30 at the earliest

For everyone’s health and safety, our mandatory closure has been extended by our regulatory body until at the earliest May 19. It is a $100000 fine if we provide hands on treatments during this time. I do miss you all and hope that everyone is doing well. Stay safe and healthy.

The Ministry of health and the college of massage therapist of Ontario has strongly urged the suspension of all nonessential massage therapy treatment for the next two weeks to help flatten the curve of the Covid-19 pandemic. As of today, the government of Ontario has declared us to be in a state of emergency. As such I have temporarily closed my massage therapy practice. I should be back to work the first week of April when the kids return to school provided we all work t...owards this common goal. I fall under the at risk category as many of you are aware. I have Mast cell disease, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardic Syndrome and Asthma, just to name a few of the conditions increasing my risk for a catastrophic outcome should I become infected with this COVID-19 virus. I also have children, elderly people and immune comprised people in my life who are also high risk. This is not an easy decision, as being self-employed I will have no income. Respectfully, this means that I understand the stress and inconvenience that it puts on all of my patients but it is our duty and obligation to ensure the safety of all members of our community, especially those who are most vulnerable. In light of the efforts to flatten the curve with regards to the covid-19 virus; if you have any flu like symptoms, a new or worsening cough, have been out of the country in the previous 14 days (or an international airport in cities with reported infections), or have direct contact with someone meeting this criteria (household member, etc) I am respectfully requesting that you reschedule beyond April 6 or a minimum of 14 days beyond your return to Canada. Many members of... our community care for or are immune comprised for example, elderly, cystic fibrosis, cancer patients, multiple sclerosis, chronic respiratory disease, or like myself mast cell disease. My hope is that we as a community can come together to ensure the utmost safety for all our residents. Provided that the CMTO, MOH and my specialists give direction that we are able to remain open, i intend to do so around my access to child care during the school closures. However, until April 6 (at the earliest), I will not be accepting new patients unless they have already been scheduled. Remember to be kind, and most of all wash your hands frequently.
