Emotional awareness is SO important to positive mental health. When you are aware of our emotions you are able to identify your triggers, calm down faster, make better decisions, improve communication and get overwhelmed less often. How emotionally aware do you consider yourself to be? *Do you only notice your emotions only once they are very intense?... *Do all your emotions feel overwhelming? *Do you often get anxious or depressed without knowing the trigger? *Do you find yourself distracting so you don't have to deal with your emotions? Self-compassion involves acting the same way towards yourself as you would act toward others. When you are having a difficult time, fail, or notice something you don’t like about yourself, instead of mercilessly judging and criticizing yourself for various inadequacies or shortcomings, self-compassion means you are kind and understanding when confronted with personal failings. After all, who ever said you were supposed to be perfect? For many of us, self-compassion is often a... radically new way of relating to ourselves. Research shows that the more we practice being kind and compassionate with ourselves, the more we’ll increase the habit of self-compassion. Having self-compassion means being able to recognize the difference between making a bad decision and being a bad person. When you have self-compassion, you understand that your worth is unconditional. This is a very, very important aspect of self-compassion. How did you show yourself self-compassion today?

Here's something to think about. So many women I talk to don't want to express their emotions, because they think it makes them weak. They are not what is weakening you. It is your reluctance to processing and expressing them. Your emotions run the show and when you have been pushing them away or when you have not been dealing with them that’s when you become powerless. Here are some tips on how to feel and deal with your emotions. 1. Allow yourself to notice your emotions. ...As yourself, How am I feeling right now? What’s going on right now? 2. Give yourself permission to feel and express them. This is just about digesting your feelings. It’s not about find solution to what’s making you feel that way. 3. Move through them. Cry if you need to. Talk it out. Dance, exercise, kick, scream just get it out. 4. Reflect on any learning you’ve had. What did you learn? 5. Choose how you want to feel now.
