My brain never stops; anyone who knows me also knows that I have a seemingly never-ending list of personal projects. The concepts fill up oodles of journals with rather odd half notes and scribbled key words. . In the "old world" one of my outlets was my "Creative Daze" but since that requires multiple humans to hang out in my studio at the same time; the "Daze" hasn't been a thing for almost a year. Not having that outlet has been challenging, but it has helped me to anal...yze just a bit what I was searching for in those multiple of ideas. Analyzing creativity did not diminish it; as I thought it might; instead it helped to highlight the creative passions that touch my soul. . Having those passions spill over from my personal work into my professional work is the result of my creative projects. Having a place to work through ideas and concepts; to push boundaries and to question and look for answers allows me to grow as an artist. Growing as an artist allows me to provide my clients with images that tell their stories in deeply connective ways. . 2020 forever changed my social feeds; creative images now gracefully mingle with professional ones. My feed was never perfectly curated but it is now more representative of who I am as an artist and how passionate I am about telling the stories of my clients, while creating works of art that feed my soul. . We are all artists in our souls; we just need the courage to share that artist in our lives. Polaroids ... . Those magical squarish photos that captured our moments in poorly exposed, often blurry glory and retired to the shelves of history when digital entered the market. Gosh they were fun weren't they ? . I discovered that Polaroids actually see light in a pretty epic way and that their often blurry, wonky exposure creates some really funky images. And the more of those little quirky photos I took, the more I have grown to love this little clicking, whirrin...g camera. . This year I joined the Women's Business Network of Peterborough Board and am so excited to be the Director who is in charge of the spotlights of Member Businesses. Of course we had to "pivot" the traditional spotlight and I created this new version... I am nowhere near the interview skills of some of our local celebs .. but I am having a lot of fun and most importantly get to share the stories of local female business women .. It fascinates me; I look for it everywhere; see how it highlights the beauty of the world around us; how it underlines the stories that are unfolding. . I adore the way the Old Masters saw light and wove it into their art and it has heavi...ly influenced my style. When I shoot; I search for the way the light falls across two interwined hands, caresses the side of a face or creates a single ray that envelopes a couple as they hold each other tight. If you could make a better world; what would you do ? . Would you end poverty, homelessness, gender violence, create sanctuaries for injured and unwanted animals, stop climate change.. the list is literally endless; because as much as our world is a beautiful place; it is not perfect. As a result everyday countless humans work tirelessly to make our planet a little better and a little safer. . Today is #givingtuesday ; a global movement for giving and volunteering that hap...pens every year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The hope is to harness the power of a community to rally together and support their local charities, not for profits and individuals who struggle on a daily basis to make a difference. The pandemic has created so many challenges at a time when the need for these organizations has increased. . I am passionate about so many things; it really is hard for me to pick just one or even two. I would love a world where all the animals are loved and cared for and got extra cuddles and soft blankies AND I would also love a world where 1 in 10 women did not live in fear in their own home and gender based violence was eradicated. . But really, it doesn't matter where your passion lies; it matters that you have a passion; a passion to make our world a better place. . I know our community does not always agree, but I know we do support each other. We are proud to #shoplocal and I believe that today we will #supportlocalptbo and support our charities, not for profits, organizations and indivduals who are trying to make our community a little safer, a little warmer, a little better for all. . Support does not have to come in the form of dollar bills; it can be as simple as the beautiful gift of time.
