Happy Friday! Did you know Northern Cardinals are named after Catholic bishops who wore red robes, and that they get their colouring from the food they eat?

Hello Ms. Cardinal in the snow. Love her colours- neutral with a pop of colour.

Yes, birds have tongues. Sitting in the snow at Riverwood in my bright red parka I watched as the birds flew away when people walked by but quickly assembled again to find seeds in the snow. There were a few pairs of beautiful Cardinals - maybe they felt I was one of them with my red coat because they came quite close! Hence if you look closely you can see the tongue.

Robins remind me of spring, which makes me think of new beginnings. So here’s to 2021!

Screech Owl snoozing. It is the best feeling to come and go without disturbing this beautiful bird’s shut-eye. Notice how the feathers camouflage with the bark- incredible.

The mighty Great Blue Heron chillin’. Pretty cool! And then, suddenly there were squawks and warning calls from other birds. Check out the last photo when the heron goes into high alert and looks like a totally different bird, a shape shifter. Pretty sure the watchfulness was due to a bald eagle which landed not too far away.

The Lakeview development along Lake Ontario in Mississauga is exciting for many reasons, but for me the best thing is that is will include a substantial wetland and conservation area. The process is being documented by photographers, whose work will be exhibited at the Small Arms Building. I am honoured to be one of the photographers involved in this worthwhile project. No photos can be posted in advance on social media, but I don't think they would object to a photo of my boots in our backyard after the morning photo shoot!

The Town of Port Credit Association is using my photo of the red bike for it's newsletter! Cool! The Town of Port Credit Association, aka TOPCA, is a volunteer run group that helps "foster open discussion on issues of importance to Port Credit residents, and aims to be a representative voice for residents at City Council and other levels of government." If you live in Port Credit, the membership is only $5 today, potentially going up to $10 after the AGM. Fun fact: you can get your teeth cleaned and see my photography on display! Margit Juhasz has run an independent dental hygenist business in Port Credit for almost 20 years. She is a go-getter and really cares about what she does. And now, on her walls, you can find a changing display of some of my favourite prints. ...
