Team British Columbia, it’s time to lace up your dance shoes and buckle up your kilts for a great cause! ScotDance Canada is hosting a fundraiser to raise a total of $30,000 to be split between Kids Help Phone and Food Banks Canada. How are you involved in this? We’re looking for 20-25 second video clips of you dancing ANY step or choreography to be used in our dance-a-thon video during the donation period on August 15th.... Your videos must be submitted by JULY 27th (submission link will be provided on July 25th). Please see attached links for more information on costume, filming, and submission guidelines. A few of our highlights from the year (2019-2020). Even though the 'regular' dancing season was cut short this year we were able to stay together while the world stayed apart. Looking forward to seeing all of our dancers in person again soon and welcoming the start of a new season in the Fall. Hope you all have a wonderful Summer!!
So proud of all of our dancers finding ways to remain engaged with dance during these uncertain times - Zoom dance exams, dance challenges, dance practices and performances at seniors residences (from a distance!). Keep it up everyone

Our dancers have been kept very busy these past few weeks Some of our senior students attended the Master of the Scottish Arts concert in Edmonds, Washington where they put on a great show! The next day our dancers competed in the Celtic Arts Open Championship - where we had some great results and were able to celebrate Taryn’s 18th birthday This past weekend we were competing again at the Fraser Valley Highland Dancing competition where our dancers did really well and took home lots of cash prizes! Loved seeing our wee primary debut dancers up on stage for the first time too. Isaac and Ivy were even able to sneak in a performance at the Vancouver Art Gallery as performers for ‘Welcome to the British Isles’. Well done everyone

What a wonderfully festive day we had at the Santa’s Fling competition! Well done to all of our dancers - a highlight was the little elves the Primary dancers received with their names on them and the kids dancing their Jingle Bell Rock choreography!! Topped the weekend off with some great workshops too Thanks to the organizers for making it such a memorable day for all!

Another great SDTA conference weekend has come to an end and our dancers had an absolute blast. Thank you so much to Steven MacRae and his team for a wonderful event! Daisy was 2nd in the Junior scholarship Malcolm was 3rd in the Junior scholarship Mikayla was 3rd in the Senior scholarship... Alex tied for 5th in the Senior scholarship Well done dancers We all learned a lot, made new friends, and made lots of lasting memories!

More world travels for our dancers! Sigrid had a very successful competition at the Loch Lomond Highland Games in Scotland, Cameron kids did very well at the Antigonish Highland Games, Erin and Megan won the choreography competition at the Piping Hot Summer Drummer dance camp, and to top it all off Daisy, Malcolm, Keira, and Catie had a wonderful day at the Portland Highland Games. Highlight of the summer so far was Kate winning (for her fifth time) the Canadian Highland Dancing Championship in Moncton. Onwards to Seattle, Scotland, and Tattoo’s!
Reflecting back on the past few weeks of dance - wow! Our kids have traveled to New Brunswick, Mount Vernon, Penticton, and Kamloops (to name a few)! We have all had a wonderful time with each other, met new friends, and have made lasting memories that we will cherish for years to come! Another year has come to an end for the 'Heather Jolley Highland Dancers'! We had a fantastic year - welcomed new faces to our studio, lots of students took home medals and trophies, and lots of new friends made. This night would never be possible without our fabulous volunteers and helpers - thank you so much to each and every one of you!! Classes will resume in September and we hope you all have a wonderful Summer.
We had a terrific day at the Coquitlam Highland Games last weekend - the weather was beautiful, the dancers did great, and a bear even came to see what all the fuss was about!! We are all looking forward to our year end show tomorrow night - if you’re looking to experience an evening of traditional highland dance please come on out and have a look!! Show starts at 6:30 at the Evergreen Cultural Centre.
