Great to see that a new public transportation option is being made available during the causeway closure. The causeway closes on April 5th.

Election Day is on Monday. The polls are open from 10am to 8pm. You can vote at the polling station indicated on your voter information card, or you can vote at any returning office in New Brunswick (including the one in Riverview Mall). If you did not receive a voter information card, you can bring your proof of age/address and be added to the list of electors at the polling station or at the returning office. For more information, check on ElectionsNB.ca or call our local returning office at 869-6650. The Elections Act prohibits advertising or speeches by candidates on Election Day and the Sunday before Election Day, so this will be my final video message before the election. Please take the time to go vote on Monday, and please vote for Heath Johnson for Riverview. #HeathRiverview #nbla #nbpoli #nbelxn #Riverview

I decided to run in this election because I want to help people. I have dedicated my career to helping others, from mentoring entrepreneurs as they pursue their dreams, to volunteering with youth in Scouts Canada, to helping struggling businesses fix their problems. I want to help people to grow, to become better, to develop. That's what I want to do for Riverview. During this campaign, I have outlined my positive vision for Riverview, and my priorities for our town. I have t...alked about completing the causeway replacement project, supporting small businesses, improving health care, helping seniors, and protecting our drinking water. I have focussed on current, local issues, and have proposed solutions. We need to be looking forward. We need to work together to help our community to grow and to prosper. I have a path to get us there. I hope that I have earned your trust. On Monday, please cast your ballot for Heath Johnson for MLA for Riverview. #HeathRiverview #nbla #nbpoli #nbelxn #Riverview

Closing rural emergency rooms would have a ripple effect in Greater Moncton. Back in February, Blaine Higgs announced that the emergency rooms in six rural hospitals would be closing. Thankfully, that didn't happen, as the impacts would be felt in more than just those communities. I have spoken with doctors here in Moncton who remain concerned about the possibility of these closures, as it would have a significant impact here in Greater Moncton. In this video, I outline four of the ways rural ER closures would impact us in Riverview. We have committed to keeping rural emergency rooms open. It is important for our rural communities, and it is important in our cities as well. #HeathRiverview #nbla #nbpoli #nbelxn #Riverview

Our seniors have been badly affected by the pandemic. Those in nursing homes have been physically isolated from their families for months. Even those living independently are anxious about going out and getting sick. This week, I spoke with Cecile Cassista from the Coalition for Seniors and Nursing Home Residents' Rights about some of the issues that are affecting seniors right now. There was a lot to talk about. In this video, I address four of these issues: 1. Seniors want ...to stay living in their own homes as long as possible 2. Improving and expanding extramural care 3. Housing affordability and rising rental costs 4. Staffing at nursing homes If I am elected, I will work hard to help the citizens of Riverview, including seniors. #HeathRiverview #nbla #nbpoli #nbelxn #Riverview

Welcome back to school, Riverview High students! After six months at home, I'm sure you are all happy to be back at school. One of your teachers asked me to make a video to introduce myself to you, and to list five of my top priorities for the riding of Riverview for the provincial election. Five issues I think are really important are: 1. Supporting small businesses as they recover from the pandemic 2. Completing the causeway replacement project 3. Investing in our schools... 4. Improving health care 5. Protecting our water supply from blue-green algae Thanks for taking the time to watch my video. Have a great school year. #HeathRiverview #nbla #nbpoli #nbelxn #Riverview

Today is the second day of advanced polls for the provincial election. If you live in the Riverview riding, you can vote today between 10am and 8pm at St John the Baptist Anglican Church (28 Woolridge Street). If you received a voter ID card in the mail, please bring that with you to make things go a little bit faster. You can also bring your driver's licence or proof of address if you did not receive a card. If today doesn't work for you, you can also vote at the returning office inside Riverview Mall every day except Sunday, or on Election Day next Monday. Thank you for taking the time to vote. I hope that I have earned your trust: vote for Heath Johnson for Riverview. #HeathRiverview #nbla #nbpoli #nbelxn #Riverview

Mental illness is a complex issue that affects many New Brunswickers. We need to continue to improve access to mental health services in the province, by consulting with experts, working with community and non-profit organizations, and expanding the mobile crisis intervention units. For many, mental illness is compounded by other issues, including addiction and homelessness. We need a multifaceted approach to improving mental health that includes solutions for these other issues as well, and our platform provides recommendations on how we would work on all of these issues in tandem. #HeathRiverview #nbla #nbpoli #nbelxn #Riverview

Like many of you, I have been disturbed by the news in recent months with the deaths of indigenous people at the hands of the police. Everyone should feel safe and protected in our community. We have committed to launching a formal inquiry into systemic discrimination and racism within New Brunswick police services within 30 days of taking office. We cannot become better if we do not address our shortcomings, and a formal inquiry gives the power to compel testimony. We can do better. We can be better. This is where we begin. #HeathRiverview #nbla #nbpoli #nbelxn #Riverview

Our small businesses are hurting from the pandemic. Almost 98% of businesses in Canada are classified as small businesses, and they employ nearly 70% of the labour force. With more people staying at home and lower revenues, many have sadly had to close their doors. While there have been a number of federal programs to help during the pandemic, the provincial government hasn't provided much assistance. Business owners don't want to take on more debt right now. I think we should consider recommendations by the Canadian Federation for Independent Business: temporary grant programs, property tax reductions, and/or waivers of WorkSafeNB premiums until our economy regains some stability. #HeathRiverview #nbla #nbpoli #nbelxn #Riverview

Our water supply is at risk from blue-green algae. This bacteria has been found in the reservoirs at Turtle Creek, and it poses a real danger: it produces toxins that are dangerous to humans and fatal to pets, and it can cause skin issues if used for bathing or laundry. Crucially, boiling the water won't get rid of the toxins: they need to be removed at the source. We can reduce the risk by keeping the reservoir deep and cold so that the algae doesn't bloom (so please keep reducing your water use). Ultimately, fixing this problem will require an infrastructure investment that could run around $20 million, which could be funded through a joint federal-provincial infrastructure commitment. We need to protect our drinking water, and keep our residents safe. #HeathRiverview #nbla #nbpoli #nbelxn #Riverview

Our nurses have been without a contract for two years. They work in a stressful environment, and they put their personal safety on the line. They are a critical component of our healthcare system, and they need to be treated with respect. We will sit down within the first 30 days to negotiate a contract that is fair, respectful, and ensures their safety. We will also focus on recruitment initiatives to attract and return nurses in this province, especially as close to 40% of them will be eligible to retire in the next 5 years. This includes ensuring wages are competitive, so that fewer will leave the province after their training. #HeathRiverview #nbla #nbpoli #nbelxn #Riverview
