If you’ve had braces or have a lingual wire placed for retention you are probably also aware of how important it is to keep the teeth clean and that it sometimes can be a challenge. There are many different types of lingual wires but regardless of the type they all pose challenges for flossing. I thought I’d share some of the simple things you can grab next time you’re out to help you. EEZ-THRU Floss threaders by GUM- I find these ones the thinnest on the market and easier ...to get in between the teeth with little struggle. SUPER FLOSS by ORAL-B- work as well as the floss threaders and works as a threaded and floss all in one. WATERPIK water flosser- helps to get the big pieces of food out from between the teeth. Electric Toothbrush any brand (@philipssonicare is my personal favourite). Pick these up at pretty much any drugstore and give them a try. Let me know if you have any questions about any of these.

A lot of us are getting ready to get the kids back to school this week and figuring out the best way to coordinate things. Being a working mom the start of the school year has always been a wonderful time but also a time where I feel a bit more stressed because now I gotta plan drop off & pick up, prep lunches & snack, make sure homework is done, try to get home at a reasonable time after work etc. On top of it it all we have a pandemic to navigate through. But through it all... I just wanted to remind all you beautiful moms and hardworking dads that You got this . . The days sometimes may seem long but the years are very short. Have a wonderful Monday . #backtoschool #motivationmonday #inspirationalquotes #mondays #dentistofinstagram #instamotivation #motivationalquotes #yougotthis #dadsifinstagram #singledads #singlemoms #workingmoms #stayathomemoms #missvacationing See more

* MOUTHWASH - Tissue Issue * In the last little while I’ve seen a lot of patients where the tissues in the mouth are sloughing off. Most patients have had some burning and pain in the area but some haven’t had any pain. There’s a lot of reasons that can cause tissue sloughing but almost 80-90 % In my experience it’s been due to recent over use of mouthwash. Most of my patients and staff are aware that I do not like mouthwashes, don’t use them myself and don’t really... recommend to patients. Here is a few reasons why: Most mouthwashes are acidic and can cause more problems than fixing any. I have seen so many burns on gum tissues etc that could have simply been avoided. Most of them contain alcohol and I know there are alcohol free ones but still no good for me. A lot of them have parabens in them which are carcinogenic. It can mask underlying conditions if you’re using it for bad breath. You can have perio disease, your tongue may need some tlc and toothbrush scrubbing. You can also have underlying gut issues that cause the bad breath. Know the reason why you’re using the mouthwash if that is something you have to do. Simply saying my wife makes me do it does not suffice as a justified reason. (Although Happy wife could mean Happy Life lol). If you still don’t want to give up Mouthwash Look for one without: any parabens no alcohol. low in acidity . #dentistofinsta #dentistofinstagram #dentaloffice #dentist #dentaltalk #inspiration #mouthwash #elementaloralcare #oralhealth #vancouverdentist #surreydentist #whiteteeth #teethhealth #dentalstudentsofinsta #dentalstudentlife #dentalstudentblogger #dentalpracticeowner #badbreath #femaledentist #naturopath #dentalhygienist #doctorsofinsta #nursesofinsta See more

Composite or Porcelain Veneers? Over the last few weeks I’ve had lots of questions about these. There’s quite a bit of difference between the two so I’ll break it down in simple points and keep it short. Pros of Composite Veneers:... 1. Use of composite (synthetic resins) 2. Usually require no local anesthetic 3. Usually done in a single visit 4. Usually doesn’t require trimming of teeth 5. Immediate result 6. Reversible if for some reason patient changes their mind. 7. Price is more affordable $$$ and usually covered by insurance. Cons of Composite Veneers . 1. They can chip 2. They can stain 3. Might need to be replaced overtime Pros Of Porcelain Veeners 1. Made of porcelain & stronger than composite 2. Less chance of staining 3. Highly esthetic result 4. Can achieve the Hollywood look with them. Cons of Porcelain Veneers 1. Usually done in two appointments 2. Requires local anaesthetic 3. Most types require some preparation of the teeth.m (but can be prep less). 4. Possibility of chipping overtime but very low chance. 5. More costly than composite veeners and insurance usually doesn’t cover . #compositeveneers #composite #porcelainveneers #hollywoodsmile #dentalfacts #dentalstudent #dentalstudentlife #dentistrymyworld #dentalmaterials #dentallab #dentaltech #dentist #femaledentist #brightsmile #beautifulsmile #careforyourteetb #philipsonicate #sonicare #teethwhitening #teethwhiteningstrips
