I'm not one to bash other investment firms, but the ongoing advertising campaigns from other firms claiming to get you to retirement 30% faster, has pushed me to the edge. Their advertising campaigns prey on Canadians’ fears about retirement security. Their idea is that lower fees translate directly to better performance and that financial advice is worthless, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. We can all agree that lower fees are better when all else is equal, but ...all else is not equal when it comes to investment management and financial advice. We have done apples-to-apples portfolio comparisons and their numbers just don't add up. If you look at the performance of actively managed portfolios (after fees of course), they outperform under every time period. Don't be lured by lower fees, no service and false claims!
