O Government Federal CRA declara que o rendimento máximo de aposentadoria para 2021 aumentará de $ 58.700 para $ 61.600 devido a um aumento nas taxas de contribuição do CPP. Em janeiro de 2021, a taxa de contribuição do empregado e empregador aumentará para 5,45%, ante a cifra atual de 2020 de 5,25%. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has announced a few updates for 2021. The CPP enhancement will impact millions of employed and self-employed Canadians that contribute towards the pension fund. This will also impact businesses that need to cover 50% of employee contributions. The CRA states the maximum pensionable earnings for 2021 will rise from $58,700 to $61,600 due to a rise in CPP contribution rates. In January 2021, the employee and employer contribution rate will increase to 5.45%, up from the current 2020 figure of 5.25%. This means the contribution rate for self-employed Canadians will increase to 10.9% from 10.5%. The CPP enhancement might result in a smaller paycheck for Canadians, but it will also lead to higher income in retirement. The basic exemption amount for Canadians will remain at $3,500 for 2021.

Family visits for the holidays Immediate family members of Canadians and Permanent Residents including spouses, dependent children and parents may be able to enter Canada without prior authorization if they are staying longer than 15 days. However, immediate family of temporary residents as well as extended family members, including non-dependent children, siblings, grand-parents, siblings and dating partners will likely need authorization letters prior to entering. Do not forget to apply for authorization if your family is coming for the holidays and will need to obtain the authorization beforehand.

Permanent Residency program for Refugee Claimants working in Health Care If you are a refugee claiming and have worked in the health care sector with a valid work permit for at least 120 hours between March 12, 2020 and August 14, 2020, you may qualify for permanent residence through a new program announced by IRCC. It is important to determine if you qualify and apply as soon as possible in order to pause your refugee proceedings while the application is in process.
