Did you catch Linda Light’s story of her mother’s old cookbooks in the October issue of @ediblevancouver? You can read the article on ediblevancouver.com in the current digital issue. Linda graciously shared her family’s treasures and I spent a few days leafing through the pages of her recipe books before selecting some recipes to style and shoot. I say treasures because I truly believe the recipes we pass on to each other have value is beyond measure. For this recipe for mar...malade the method instructed to use a mincer which after some conversations with Linda we determined to be a meat grinder. Coincidentally, my someday-soon-to-be-sister-in- law had recently given my own mother a meat grinder that had been her grandfather’s. And thus this image came to be. I think we all have all old recipes either remembered or written down on old cards or bits of scrap paper. Just holding them in our hands brings back a flood of memories. I’d love to hear about your favourites. See more
May we all rediscover a few more family recipes hidden in our own vaults. Check out the article in this month's Edible Vancouver.
I grew these during the pandemic and they kept me sane this summer. Ten tomatoes and ten limited edition prints in this series. I'm pretty sure they would look great on your wall. See shoplink for more info and to purchase.
