It's never too late to learn a new skill/hobby. The best way to learn, is from someone who has mastered the skill you are wanting to learn. In Clarksburg, there is the opportunity to learn how to paint from local artist Don Kilby at his gallery and studio. His classes are now being offered on zoom, since the gallery can not currently be open. The exciting part, is that people both near and far can now learn from him, and become seasoned painters. You can see his artwork or sign up for a class at his website http://www.donkilby.com

With the arrival of spring, comes the start of house hunting season. In the spring, more houses are listed and more people are looking to buy than during the winter. When you find a house that you love, you want to move quickly to purchase it before someone else does. But, winter can cause a lot of wear and tear on a home, know what potential problems to spot for before you make an offer. 3 areas to pay attention to are: 1. The roof. A storm in the winter can cause damage... without a home owner knowing. Take a peak before or after you enter the house. Shingles should be flat, and all there. 2. Out of sight spaces. Look at the attic, basement and any out of the way storage spaces for moisture, mould and critters that may have come in with the wet cold weather. 3. Spot water damaged areas, that may be a sign of a bigger issue such as water running into the house or a leaky roof. Yellow spots on the wall or ceiling are tell tale signs of water damage. See more

We just changed the clocks, now is a great time to test your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors to make sure they are working properly. 3 tips to help maintain your detectors: 1. The smoke alarm:vacuum it to make sure there are no cobwebs or dust inside. Use a broom handle to press that test button to hear that it is working. If the sound is quiet or non-existent, change the batteries. 2. The carbon monoxide detector: hold the test button until you hear two beeps, ...release your finger off the test button. 3. Check expiry dates on the alarms to see when they need to be replaced, and replace if needed See more
