Why is it important find a beauty service provider with a business license? This is proof that they are a legal business, have been inspected and approved by their provincial health services, which gives you a peace of mind that they know the property protocol for disinfection and sanitation. Business owners operating without a license risk being reported and can be fined to upwards of $10,000 or more (based off the City of Edmonton's website). Beauty services are a luxury se...rvice and can be pricy. But there are some providers that charge significantly less than others. Sure it seems like a cheaper option, but most don't realize they aren't making much of a profit. They are basically breaking even with the cost of their products and earn less than minimum wage per hour for labour. So how much should a beauty service cost? Based on my research off of Canadian providers, this is what I've found: Lash extensions: $100-$395 for a new full set, depending on style. Hair cuts and color: $60-$350+, dependent on work that needs to be done (i.e. highlights, balayage, cut, etc.). Facials: $100+ which include a huge range from basic to advanced facials. At the end of the day, are you looking to pay for quantity or quality? How important is it to you whether or not your provider is approved by a provincial health services? Do you trust the provider to have proper training and technique that won't risk your health and safety? For example I have had clients mention to me they wouldn't feel comfortable with someone dermaplaning for under $100, using a surgical scalpel to your face. To beauty providers: do you want to work more while charging less or work less and charge more? The price you charge is going to reflect the type of clients you are going to receive. There are of course many more beauty services available, but before you book an appointment, do some research and don't be afraid to ask questions!
