Struggling to find ideas for your brand style? I love to use pinterest whenever I’m planning out a new style for brands and websites. In fact, I give clients pre-work that includes creating a pinterest board. This way I can get a better idea of their style without them having to describe things (which is really hard without visuals)... Here’s how pinterest can up your brand game: You can find great ideas that inspire something new in your brand style. It’s not about copying, but about finding inspiration. When you have a group of visual things that you like, you’ll start to see themes. And those themes can be built into your brand style. When you’re ready to hire a designer, you already have a content bank FULL of things that are your style and that you feel represents your business. Visuals are so helpful when you’re dealing with design. Want to peek the pinterest homework worksheet that I give my clients? Send me a DM and I'll share it with you!

Connections are a huge part of what keeps me going. I’m an extrovert - people keep me sane. I remember reading a longitudinal study done about life expectancy. The hypothesis was the socioeconomic indicators were the main determinants of life expectancy. Turns out that the people who had strong life-long connections had the longest life expectancy regardless of wealth and other indicators. ... Does that mean stuff doesn't come into play (race, wealth, education etc). No, those things matter - a lot. What it does mean is that strong connections support our resilience when those things negatively affect us. Having friends literally helps to keep us healthier and happier.

New website reveal. Had a great time working with Chris Ann Lake to build her revamped and gorgeous website. I LOVE the colour palette we came up with for her brand. It’s so dreamy.

' . A lot of people approach websites as though they're a resume. . . . . . . Think about it. When someone comes to your website, do you think they're just there gathering information? Just like if you had a pile of resumes, something would need to stand out for you to read the thing. And even then, it would only be out of necessity. ? . People visiting your site have a 3 second window to even care. And that's on a good day. Otherwise, they're outta there. And they care about them. ' : Your content needs to be focused on your customer. Talk directly to them (and less about you) Focus on your customer's problem and how you solve it. Have a 'Call to action' button asking your viewer to do something at the top of your page and sprinkle them throughout. ! - especially when you’re the one building it. So ? I don't know about you, but the new year always inspires me like a blank sheet of paper ready to be written on. And a new opportunity to plan things that I love. ... I learned years ago that planning can help me run my business instead of it running me. Especially when that planning is focused on values, goals and my own sanity. ? That used to be me. Back in the day, I felt like I was reacting to everything. To make it even worse, I was often working with clients who were doing the same. I'd get requests to design things that were literally due the week before. So I would scramble. Ugggghhh. My brain felt like it was pulled in a hundred different directions. My business DEFINITELY wasn't what I wanted it to be. Things changed when I started planning ahead. And I don't mean the details or the money. I mean focusing on my values and where I want to guide my business over all. I've been using the same basic framework for the last few years and now I can: Respond to imposter syndrome and get out of that funk. Guide my year with the RIGHT goals. Know what to say yes to. Know what to say no to. This year, I'm doing something new and using this framework to create . A workshop where we'll set some realistic goals and ditch imposter syndrome together. I'll be keeping the group small so If this sounds like something you want to get in on, then sign up for the registration waitlist. Link is in my bio. See more
