Happy Family Day weekend and Valentine's Day <3 Every Year, we close the store Family Day, in order for our staff to spend that time with their families. This year we are continuing the tradition and spending time with our immediate families at home, and throwing in some beautiful flowers to add some colour into our days. Wow, what a giving community, The police cruiser is getting FULL with food donations for this holiday season. Donations for the cruiser are until 3pm. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still donate to your local Food Bank. Foodland Gift Cards can be a great alternative if you aren’t too sure what items to donate. The Food Bank is happy to receive those and apply where needed.... ‘Tis better to give, then it is to receive’

Lest We Forget Morgan Greig joined his father, R.N Greig at the store in 1949, not too long after his time serving overseas in Darwin Australia as Rank, Signalman. Enlisted June 16 1944 - Discharged April 12 1946, after Japanese surrender.... His unit was responsible for intercepting the Japanese Military communications and forwarding them to the central Bureau. Kara Hellyer spent 6 weeks in Darwin, Australia and found the history of the war extremely important to the community, and recently learning how important that history resonates all the way here in Lion’s Head, within the family and the grocery store you are in today. Morgan Greig worked at the store from 1949 to 1970, and took ownership till 1978. 11am today, we will be silent and we will be present with our thoughts of those that served their time for our country. We are happy to share that with your support and our cashiers, we were able to help raise $793.79 to help support: Child & Youth Mental Health Initiative This money was directed to the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital from our locally owned and operated Food Market (Hellyer’s) and this was in participation with Sobey’s, Safeway, IGA West, Foodland Ontario, FOODLAND and Participating Co-Ops, Thrifty Foods. A great cause! Get outside, and off your device and enjoy the calmness nature can provide. Mental Health doesn’t take a back seat.
