Our tech highlight today is HelpWear! Helpwear has created a 24/7 wearable cardiac monitoring system that aids in the diagnosis and treatment of heart-related i...llness, as well as assisting emergency response services by alerting them to the users’ episodes in real-time. The device also allows for remote monitoring of cardiac patients in their homes and communities, taking strain off acute care centres. See more

#ICYMI - Have you worn a Holter monitor for longer than 24 hours? We want to hear from you! We are in the final stages of developing the HeartWatch, and require feedback from individuals who have relied on a Holter monitor in the past. If this is you, or someone you know, sign up for a feedback session today.
The HelpWear team has been working long and hard, and we’re almost ready to launch the HeartWatch but we’re missing one thingyou! HelpWear is hosting a series of feedback sessions, and we’re looking for anyone that has used a Holter monitor in the past to share their experience with us and try out the latest version of the HeartWatch. The in-person sessions will be split up into two types:... 1) In-depth design sessions (1-2 hours) 2) Short interviews (25 - 30 minutes) Not located in Toronto? Not a problem! We would love to hear from you via our online survey! Simply register for the event and a member from the HelpWear team will contact you with a link to the survey. A big congratulations to St. Michael's Hospital for another incredible event. #AngelsDen2017 was incredibly inspiring. Angels Den is a "reality-TV-style contest where two teams of researchers from St. Michael’s take home a minimum of $50,000 each in innovation funding". This year, 'Iron Mom' and the 'Flu Fighters' took home the prize. The Iron Mom project, presented by Dr. Michelle Sholzberg and Dr. Lisa Hicks, uses a set of digital tools to educate clinicians and families ...about the effects of anemia and iron deficiency in pregnancy. The Flu Fighters, led by Dr. Warren Lee and Dr. Xiao-Yan Wen, uses zebrafish to find new compounds to treat the influenza virus. Congratulations to both winners!
