Hensel Barristers 04.05.2021

Today the Hensel Barristers team wear our orange shirts to honour those Indigenous children who were stolen from their families and communities to attend residential and day schools. We lay down our tobacco and send our prayers to those who survived and those who did not make it home. We honour those children whose culture, language, and ways of being and knowing were beaten out of them. Today, and every day, we fight to put an end to colonial violence against Indigenous chil...dren and communities. Indigenous child welfare is a humanitarian crisis and our fight is three-fold: prevent the unnecessary removal of Indigenous children from their families, communities, and cultures; reunify families who have been traumatically and unnecessarily separated; and transform the systems that separate them. For many, today will be a day that brings up painful memories, historic and ongoing trauma. If anyone is in need of mental health services, we encourage you to reach out to your supports. If you do not have someone to talk to, we encourage you to call the Hope for Wellness Hotline at 1-855-242-3310. #EveryChildMatters #OrangeShirtDay #BringOurChildrenHome

Check out our most recent blogpost on these changes. For more information as this story unfolds, consider registering for our 2-day Employment Law webinar!
