This is what I've been doing tonight - driving around the countryside taking pictures of Christmas lights! These are at Heritage Haven Farm on Galbraith Road, a...nd a picture can't do it justice...these are impressive! Want to get fresh with a local farmer? Many of our vendors are taking part in this event! The first annual Lanark County Harvest Festival will give everyone a ...chance to do just that! The new outdoor event, slated for Sunday, Sept. 8 at Beckwith Park (1319, 9th Line, Beckwith), will celebrate the county’s bounty of the harvest featuring local producers, food seminars, children’s activities and workshops, local musicians and more. The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is a collaboration of several local groups, including Lanark Local Flavour, Lanark County Farmers’ Markets, the Lanark County Agricultural Advisory Committee, the Township of Beckwith and Lanark County. The program includes food seminars featuring The Mushroom Man of Lanark County, Scott Perrie of Valley Wild Edibles, who will present information about foraging for local mushrooms, berries, nuts and wild leeks. Other food related workshops will include topics on garlic, herbal remedies and tinctures, Slow Food, beekeeping, apples, maple syrup etc.; the renowned Bowes Brothers musical entertainment; and children’s activities, such as a petting zoo, bouncy castle, face painting, and much more. We've re-stocked the pickled beans and made wild chokecherry jelly for the farmers market this Saturday. They went fast last Saturday, so come early!!

It's veggie Day!!! Don't forget to meet us this afternoon.

Rhubarb Torte 1 cup flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt... 1 egg 1/2 cup soft marg 1 tsp milk mix together and place in torte dish, press with fingers around dish 3 cups diced rhubarb 1 pkg strawberry jello place rhubarb on top of crust, sprinkle strawberry jello over rhubarb 1 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup flour 1/4 cup butter sprinkle over rhubarb and jello mixture bake at 350 for 45 min serve with whip cream

New for this week...cabbage, watermelons,and a little bit of sweet corn!!! Hopefully by next week there will be lots of corn so don't fill up because it's good. Well worth the long wait.

Potatoes, cucumbers, beans, beets, zucchini, kale, Swiss chard, garlic, onions, and kohlrabi are all available at the farm or at the Almonte Farmers market on Saturday morning.

Stop by the farm and get your fresh veggies. Snow peas, lettuce, Swiss chard, spinach, radishes, green onoins and garlic scapes are all ready to go.

Green onions, spinach, radishes and rhubarb are all ready to go if anyone is looking for any. Sugar peas should be next week. I can't wait!!!
